1924 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
O.B. Johnston, age 88, long time Conchas Dam, NM, resident, passed away, Tuesday, September 25, 2012, following an extended illness.
O.B. was born June 29, 1924, in Electric Mills, MS. He was retired from the Consolidated Trucking Company. He served his country during WW II in the Army Air Corps in the capacity of a radio operator and waist gunner on the B-24 aircraft. He was past Master of the Bovina Masonic Lodge # 13, Member of the Hereford Masonic Lodge, and Order of Eastern Star of Melrose. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conchas Dam, NM.
Surviving him is his wife, Geneva Johnston of Conchas Dam; his daughter, Lorna Ford of Tucumcari; three sons, John and Owen Johnston both of Conchas Dam, NM, and Eric Johnston and wife, Kim of Stinnett, TX; three brothers, Walt Johnson and wife, Mary of Wichita, Falls, TX, Edwin Johnston and wife, Hazel of Albuquerque, NM, and Roy Johnston and wife, Kathy of Boulder City, NV; 7 grand and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Hazel Starr.
A service of celebration will be conducted on Saturday morning, September 29, 2012, in the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari, NM, beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sam Duncan and Rev. Wayne Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family suggests for those who wish, donations may be made to the Conchas Dam First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund at P.O. Box A, Conchas Dam, NM 88416 in loving memory of O.B. Johnston.
