1944 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Richard L. Saxton {RICK} age 70 passed away on Friday September 12, 2014, in Tucumcari NM following an extended illness.
Rick was born January 27, 1944, in Denver CO. He was retired from Mountain Bell Telephone Company where he worked for 34 years retiring in 2006. He had been an active member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1172 being a Past Exalted Ruler. He was a member of the Sons of the America Legion and President of the American Legion Riders. He loved music and singing and played with several area bands. He liked the out of doors and loved camping and fishing with his family at Tres Ritos, NM. Through out his life he worked on ranches in Montana, he later worked at a saw mill in Las Vegas NM, along with mechanic work, and driving hay trucks. He later moved to Tucumcari where he owned and operated a farm.
Surviving him is his wife Rebecca of the home. His children; Jesse and Russell Saxton of Alaska, Russell Shafer & wife Andrea of Tucumcari and Sandra Morgan & Jaren of Amarillo, TX. along with 7 grandchildren, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services celebrating his life will be Friday morning in the Dunn Memorial Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Hinze, minister of the First Baptist Church officiating. Grandchildrenwill serve as honorary pall bearers.
Following his wishes, cremation has taken place.
The family suggests for those who wish donations may be made to in loving memory of Rick Saxton.
