Sherry Arlene Fury Obituary
Sherry Arlene Fury was born July 31, 1955, to Jack William and Frances Clovis (Smith) Buxton in Tucumcari, NM. She passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014, at 7:50 pm at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her father; Jack Buxton and her son; Jarod Fury.
Sherry shared 59 years, 2 months and 19 days with us. Sherry grew up in San Jon, NM. She married Steve Fury on March 19, 1980, in Clovis, NM. They relocated to the Golden City/Lockwood area in 1982 and spent the rest of their life in this location. Sherry's true passions in life were farming, her family, and a faith that could move mountains.
Anyone who knew her, knew that she loved her boys and heard at least one story about her grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and did anything and everything she could for them through circumstances that would cause most to give up, right up to her last hours. She spent her entire life farming and enjoyed working in the fields, especially the smell of freshly tilled soil after a long day. She also enjoyed her career as a Realtor over the past 12 years, starting her own brokerage firm in the last two years. Sherry was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Greenfield, but also attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamar.
Sherry is survived by her sons; Jonathan Fury and wife Chelsea, Springfield, MO and Jess Fury, Lockwood, MO, her mother; Frances Buxton, San Jon, NM, her brother; Shane Buxton, San Jon, NM and her grandchildren; Walker and Kinsley Fury, Springfield, MO. Many other relatives, friends and neighbors will fondly remember this loving and caring woman.
Her funeral services were held on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamar, MO. Father Pat Teter officiated. Music was provided by organist Donna Oswald.
Burial followed at Pippenger Cemetery, NE of Golden City, MO. Casket bearers included Jonathan and Jess Fury, Shane Buxton, Ryan Oney, Blake Wortley, and Harlan Reuter.
