Stephen Wayne Foote age 62, departed this life on October 23, 2013, in Amarillo, TX following an extended illness.
Stephen was born January 27, 1951, in Colorado Springs CO to Betty Jo and Ernest (Buck) Foote and as an infant his family moved to the family farm east of Tucumcari, NM.
He graduated from the Tucumcari High School in 1969 and served in the New Mexico Army National Guard. He had been a member of the B P O Elks Lodge 1172 of Tucumcari. He put his training as a diesel mechanic to good use as he worked for the City of Tucumcari at the power plant and became supervisor. He continued his career in the energy industry working for Diamond Shamrock, Valero and Nu Star Energy where he was Pipeline Construction Supervisor. His strong work ethics earned him the trust and respect of all.
Steve, being a loving husband, father and best friend to many loved working cattle on their ranch in the Quay Valley. He also enjoyed hunting and shooting. He was an excellent mechanic and welder. He enjoyed the fellowship of family and his many friends. Stephen Wayne Foote was a good man and will be greatly missed.
Surviving Steve is his wife Sonja J Vuras-Foote. His sons - Stephen Hale Foote and fiancé Kiesha and their son Trey Eldon Foote, John Vuras and wife Mercedes and son Jason Bradley, Joshua Vuras and Tiara Savala and children Ayden Ben Savala, Serenity Vuras and Kaiah Michelle Vuras. His mother Betty Foote, Steve's siblings - David Foote and wife Toni, Linda Martinez and husband, Francis, Tammy Foote, Patricia Smith and Husband Wendell, Pamela Haller and Husband Dwight. Father in law Leonard Vourazeris, Sister In Law Paula Neese and husband Donnie, Brothers In Law Mike Vourazeris and wife Dawn, and Chris Vourazeris along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Foote, by niece Traci Foote-Chyenoweth , mother in law Ann Trigg and Brother In Law John Vourazeris.
Services celebrating his life were Monday October 28th at 1:00 p.m. at their ranch in Quay, NM followed by Graveside services in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery in Tucumcari, NM with a fellowship meal following at the Tucumcari Elks Lodge.
