Wanda Lee (Fickel) Wallin passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 23, 2008, in Kennewick, WA.
She was born on July 28, 1928, in Tucumcari, NM, to Rudolph and Ollie B. Fickel. Wanda spent her early years in San Jon, NM, where she graduated from San Jon H.S. Later, she attended college at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. In 1948, Wanda met and married Donald Lee (Wally) Wallin of Logan, NM. In 1951, the two moved to Los Angeles, CA, where Wanda also continued her education at Los Angeles City College.
During the next four decades, Wanda worked at the Bell Telephone Company in Los Angeles, CA, owned and operated The Little Folks Nursery School in Fullerton, CA, and partnered up with Wally in running "The Print Shop" in Anaheim. The couple moved to Kennewick, WA, in 1994, where she worked as the Guest Services Coordinator for the local McDonalds' restaurant. In recent years, Wanda was an active volunteer for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Guild.
Wanda enjoyed square dancing, traveling, playing piano and cards, cooking, reading, sewing and afternoons working in the yard with her husband.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 60 years Donald Wallin; her children, daughter, Kim and (Jack Salemme) of Kennewick, WA, son, Kyle Wallin and (Diana Wallin) of Lincoln and Rocklin, CA, respectfully; Grandchildren; Traci Salemme of Aspen, CO, Keri Salemme of Kennewick, WA, and Emily and David Wallin of Lincoln, CA. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Fickel and sister in-law, Sue Fickel of Albuquerque, NM.
She is preceded in death by an infant son, Kyle Rudy Wallin.
A celebration of Wanda's life will be held at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home (10th & Union Street) in Kennewick, WA, on Monday, December 29th at 1:00 p.m. A reception will be held at Mueller's immediately following.
