Jeanne Lawver Knott

Jeanne Lawver-Knott, of Rancho Bernardo, CA, formerly of Rockford, IL, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, after a courageous battle against cancer.
Jean Ann Kluck was born in Dubuque, IA, the oldest of eight children born to Bobbie and Merlin Kluck. She attended St. Anthony Catholic School, Visitation High School, and Clarke College where she met Gene Lawver.
Jeanne and Gene were married in 1956. They had two sons, Steven and David, who they raised in Rockford. They were long-time members of Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club where her passion for golf began. They often vacationed at their cottage in Green Lake, WI.
Jeanne moved to San Diego, CA, in 1989 to reunite with her sons. She settled in Rancho Bernardo where she met Harry Knott. They traveled, dined, entertained, and of course played a lot of golf. They were members of Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Club and The Country Club of Rancho Bernardo.
Jeanne had many interests and was very active, but family was always most important. She cared for and looked out for her brothers and sisters. Her pride was her two sons and her joy was her five grandchildren.
Jeanne was beautiful – inside and out. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we know that she'll always be with us, loving us, supporting us, and encouraging us in all we do.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie and Merlin Kluck, and sisters, Nancy Kluck and Patricia Kluck Bertsch.
Jeanne leaves behind her devoted husband, Harry Knott; her loving sons, Steve (Cory) Lawver of Sacramento, CA, and David (Valerie) Lawver of DeWitt, MI; and five grandchildren, Jack, Charlie, Lauren, Nicholas and Kaitlyn who will deeply miss their Nana. She will also be missed by her brothers, William (Lois) Kluck of Granite Shoals, TX, Thomas (Liz) Kluck, David (Carol) Kluck and Michael (Robin) Kluck of Dubuque; and loving sister, Jann (Tom) Roshek of Dallas. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass in her honor will be said June, 7, 2013, at 1:30 PM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Poway, CA, with a Reception immediately following at Rancho Bernardo Inn. Funeral Services will be held June, 29, 2013, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA, followed by Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery and lunch at Dubuque Golf & Country Club immediately following. Ladies: wear your favorite hat.
