Eugenia Ramsay, age 93, of Ramona, passed away peacefully at home with her family surrounding her on June 21, 2014. She was born on May 12, 1921, in San Antonio, Texas, the youngest of five children. Her father was a New Zealand immigrant and her mother was born in Germany.
Her husband Stuart kept her active raising their five children as he provided for the family as a contractor. The best days of her life were the precious days of raising kids in the early years, she handmade all their clothes, picked fresh fruit and made homemade pies and desserts.
Eugenia loved golf and had two holes in one on her scorecard, one from Tecolote Golf Course in Clairemont and the other from Mission Bay Golf Course. She moved to Ramona in 1997 and enjoyed the Ramona Senior Center activities, from cruises to trips to Laughlin and she loved the Thursday bingo sessions.
It does not matter how long you have your mother, it is never enough time. She was the mother everyone wanted to have and everyone wanted to be her when they grew up, driving a mustang with the wind in her hair, she was our beautiful mom. Thank you Ramona for loving her like we did, she loved this town.
She leaves behind her five children, John (Kathy) McCoy, Sheron Bealer, Jim (Clara) Ramsay, Sue Harris, and Stephanie (Paul) Norvell; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life was held on July 2, 2014, at 2pm at the Barona Resort Chapel.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you, we watched you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
