Thomas Arnold Obituary

Many Poway residents will recall stopping to look at a sweet black '49 Chevy Truck pass by our neighborhoods. Look closely and you would likely have found baseball gear or roller derby skates in the bed as Tom coached Little League and supported Angie's roller derby efforts. Tom, 44, is now an angel, called to heaven much too soon. Tom loved hot rods but more than that, he loved his family. "Doodle" leaves his cherished bride, Angela Generas Arnold, who he married June 12, 2009, as well as his beloved children, Madison (13), Nathan (11), Jackson (9), and Grayson (8).
Tom coached in PALL's Little League program where the kids loved "Coach Doodle". He was a talented and creative Industrial Designer and Mechanical Engineer for Novatel Wireless. Tom was a member of Poway Cruisers and the Church at Rancho Bernardo.
Tom's family invites all to a celebration of his life Saturday, January 15, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Church of Rancho Bernardo, 11740 Bernardo Plaza Court, San Diego, CA.
A memorial fund has been set up for his family: Thomas Arnold Memorial Fund, San Diego County Credit Union, 6545 Sequence Dr., San Diego 92121. Donations may be dropped off at any San Diego County Credit Union.

I went to middle and high school with Tom. We both played trumpet in the band and I was usually a chair behind him, when he was second chair I was third, when he was first chair I was second. We both loved music and had a lot of fun in jazz band, pep band and just messing around. In junior high we would get a pass out of study hall to go jam in the music room by the gym. If there was a gym class, we loved to crank up our version of "Fantasy" by Aldo Nova, with me on my old Peavey T-60 guitar and Tom on drums. He was a very talented musician. We got recruited to play trumpet for the choir when they were doing a version of Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. Tom was able to play the trumpet solo with ease, I had to mostly fake it and follow him. He has been gone for awhile, and was taken too soon. I know he was also a talented pitcher and loved baseball, so I wasn't surprised to see he coached that as he had kids and got older. I wish all his family love, peace and healing.

There are no words that will take away your pain, only time will help to ease it. May "the God of all comfort" (1 Cor. 1:3) help to you at this time.
