Ramon, 90, was born October 23, 1923, in Villabascones de Sotoscuella, Burgos, Spain to Victor Ruiz and Victorina Gomez. He passed away on March 19, 2014. |
As a child he was a refugee of the Spanish Civil War and he and his siblings were split up and sent to live with volunteer foster families in France. He emigrated to USA in 1956 where he married the one true love of his life Luz "Cita" Freeman in 1955, who sadly preceded him in death in 1975. While raising six children and working, he attended and graduated San Diego State with a degree in History. Ramon was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12 and worked at VR Dennis as a heavy equipment operator until a second stroke forced him into retirement well after normal retirement age. During his 40 years employment with VR Dennis, he only called in sick one day.
In 2005, he moved to Ramona with daughter Ana Cosio, son in law Rich and granddaughter Clara where he resumed his passion for gardening and enjoyed playing cards at Barona Casino. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He was the kindest, sweetest man who we will miss more than words can say.
He is survived by his six children; Javier Ruiz, Maria Cecilia Ruiz, Vicky Moore, Marta Ruiz, Ana Cosio and Julieta Stafford; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and extended family.
If interested, donations to one of his favorite charities Wounded Warriors are appreciated.
Special thanks to Ramona Sheriff and Fire Department and Judi of Trauma Intervention Program "TIP" for their assistance and compassion.
Services were held March 28, 2014.
