Arland Lee Fountain(1935 - 2018)

Arland Lee Fountain, 83, of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away at 3:17 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.
Funeral Services were at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Hannibal. Rev. Mark Albee officiated.
Burial with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 were at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Friends and Family were invited to Arland's Life Celebration at a visitation that was held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church.
The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
Arland was born January 13, 1935, in Oakwood, Mo. to Otis Arland Fountain and Dorothy Lee Arnett Fountain. He was raised by his step-mother, Angelina Katheryn Fountain.
He was married to Carol Ann Harris on June 2, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include three children, Bradley Wayne Fountain (Lynn), Arla René Surls (Randy), and Jennifer Ann Fountain-Bumann (Michael) one brother, Gary Dean Fountain, three sisters, JoAnn Katheryn Neuschafer, Lucinda Carol Price, Brenda Colleen Stout, ten grandchildren, Andrew Scott Fountain, Adam Christopher Fountain, Austin Gregory Fountain, Megan LeeAnn Blume, Brett Allen Surls, Morgan Elizabeth Surls, Alexandra Harris Bumann, Ella Caroline Bumann, Tristan James Bumann and Ava Isabella Bumann.
Arland is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Kaden James Fountain, Kennedy Helen Blume and Caroline Elizabeth Blume, numerous nieces, nephews and his best friend and hunting buddy, Jay W. Price.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Lisa Arlene Fountain.
Arland was a graduate of Hannibal High School and Hannibal LaGrange College. He later served his country in the United States Army Reserves.
Professionally Arland worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Pike County Memorial Hospital for over 29 years.
Away from work Arland simply enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to hunt a variety of game and also fish Mark Twain Lake and other ponds and lakes in the area. It was not unusual for the neighborhood children to knock on the Fountain door to ask "Can Mr. Fountain come out and play?" Arland enjoyed playing croquet with the neighborhood kids. Arland was known to have a sweet tooth as well and his wife, Carol Ann's chocolate chip cookies were always a favorite. Playing card games like Canasta and Liverpool were also past times that Arland enjoyed with his family.
Arland was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Arland was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Hannibal.
Pallbearers were Andrew Fountain, Adam Fountain, Austin Fountain, Brett Surls, Greg Price and Ryan Fountain.
Memorial contributions may be to Immanuel Baptist Church.
