Eugene "Scoot" W. Grove Jr., 55, of Colonial Lodge Community for the last 8 months, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the Ephrata Community Hospital. He previously
resided with his sister in
Lititz.
He was born in Ephrata to the late Eugene and Anna (Smith) Grove.
Eugene served in the US Marine Corps infantry from 1975-1982. His station
assignments included
embassy duty in Morocco,
also serving in South Africa, Okinawa, Japan and Korea.
While serving, his
achievements included
Highest Marksmanship Award, Meritorious Mast and Good Conduct Award.
He was a graduate of
Cocalico High School.
Eugene was a self-employed painter. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Reamstown Athletic Assn. and Northern Lan-caster Sportsman's Club. He also enjoyed antiquing and country music.
He is survived by 3 brothers: Thomas (Janice) Grove, David (Diane) Grove, and Kevin (Christine) Grove; a sister, Kathy (Delbert) Slatt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be private at the convenience of the
family.
