Bruno, Rosemary (Baluck) - Reading
Rosemary A. Bruno, 78, of Spring Township passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on July 28, after a long struggle with lung disease. Wife of the late Louis D. Bruno, who passed away on April 15, 2004, the Brunos co-founded The Rose Corporation, a custom steel fabrication business located on 8th Street in Reading, in 1987. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anne (Repasky) Baluck. She was a 1954 graduate of Struthers High School. The Brunos also married in 1954 and resided in Hubbard, OH, before moving to Willingboro, NJ, and finally to Reading in 1973. Rosemary was a longtime member of Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Reading, before moving to Spring Township in 2005, when she became a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, Sinking Spring. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Rosemary was a homemaker for most of her life. She taught unconditional love and loyalty by the example she led every day. She was a constant source of support, humor and enthusiasm to her family and those who knew her; although she was far too unassuming to realize her impact on others. She found and shared joy in the simple things in life like a great sale, a really good episode of Dr. Phil , a cozy nap with her cats, a grandchild's school performance or a long talk with a friend. Nothing delighted her more than giving a gift she could not wait for the recipient to open. Rosemary's family will continue to celebrate the very special person she was and what she taught them …always. Surviving are three daughters: Cynthia A. Bruno, companion of Mark Tsopanis, Muhlenberg Township; Elaine M., wife of Thomas McDevitt, Spring Township; and Barbara S. Chrisman, Reading. There are four grandchildren: Melissa A. Bruno, Fleetwood; Brian L. Bruno, West Reading; Mark T. McDevitt, Washington DC; and Elyse R. McDevitt, Spring Township; and three great-grandchildren; Olivia S., Isabella M. and Sophia R. Bruno. Also surviving is a sister, BettyAnn Cavanaugh, Shillington, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Rosemary was predeceased by a cherished son, Mark G. Bruno; brothers, Richard and James Baluck; and sister, Dolores Zetts, Struthers, Ohio. The family wishes to thank caregivers Margie Marino, Wendy Fisher and Judy Straub, and Berks Visiting Nurse, Linda Donahue, for the compassionate care they provided Rosemary in the final weeks of her life. Along with dedicated family team work, these special individuals helped make it possible for Rosemary to pass in the familiar surroundings of her own home, just as she wished. Friends may call at a viewing to be held at Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1501 North Eleventh Street, Reading, PA, on Sunday, August 2, from 4 until 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Interment will immediately follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. The family will be meeting at the church on Monday morning. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604 or St. Joseph's Outreach Program, 1018 N. 8th Street, Reading, PA, 19604.
