DeStasio Jr., Joseph - Reading  
Joseph DeStasio Jr., age 95 years, of Birdsboro, passed away Sunday, November 23rd, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading. Joseph was born in Philadelphia on July 8, 1919, a son of the late Theresa (Ruggeri) and Andrea DeStasio and was the husband of Miriam L. (Baragone) DeStasio of Birdsboro. They were married for 65 years. He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in WWII, serving in the European Theatre, Normandy and Central Europe. He was later employed as an insurance agent at Chesapeake Life Insurance for 25 years until retiring in 1982. In 1983 he received the National Poet Award from the National Poets Association. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea J., wife of Stephen McIntosh of Chino Hills, CA; daughter, Eileen DiStasio-Clark of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Donna M., wife of Cristopher Wagner of Logan, UT; and son, Joseph DeStasio, husband of Jeanette DeStasio of Pottsville, PA. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3344 Reading Crest Ave., Reading, PA 19605. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Arrangements entrusted to the John P. Feeney Funeral Home, in Reading's Centre Park Historic District, 625 N. 4th St. at Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601.

Dechert, Carol (Degler) - Lebanon  
Carol A. Dechert, 68, of Lebanon passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of Edwin E. Dechert. She was born in Reading, PA on September 24, 1946, daughter of the late Paul and Anna Kramer Degler. Carol was a member of New Beginnings Church, Myerstown where she took part in the Sign Language Ministry and was a Deaconess. She enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Scott Dechert and wife, Kendra, Lebanon; daughter, Lisa, wife of Robert Putt, Lebanon; grandchildren: Rachael Dechert, Brayden Putt and Kalli Putt all of Lebanon; sister, Shirley, wife of Marvin Speicher, Robesonia; brother, Mervin Degler and wife, Blubella, Sinking Springs. She was preceded in death by her sister, Arlene Ulrich and her brothers: Donald, Kenneth and Stanley Degler. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the New Beginnings Church, 430 E. Lincoln Ave., Myerstown with Rev. Keith Shearer and Rev. Dan Jackson officiating. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Carol's name to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research, 855 Tuck St., Suite 2, Lebanon, PA 17042.

Duttera, Lori (Shupe) - Palmyra  
Lori Linn (Shupe) Duttera, 48, of Harrisburg, passed away with family by her side on Monday, November 17, 2014 in Twin Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation, Campbelltown. She was born Sunday, February 27, 1966 in Norristown, PA. She graduated from Linden Hall Girls School and attended Wesley College. Lori was employed by CAIU as a teacher's assistant. She was a Deadhead traveling to many venues to see the Greatful Dead play. She enjoyed cooking, was passionate about playing the guitar, fishing, and loved spending time with her brothers. Most importantly she was a loving daughter, sister, and friend. She is survived by her father, Philip L. Shupe and companion, Carol Hill of Reinholds, PA; her mother, Deana B. (Boone) Stringer and husband, David of Naples, FL; a paternal grandmother, Margaret Shupe of Catawissa, PA; 4 brothers: John Shupe and wife, Danielle of Lincoln, MA; David Stringer of Anchorage, AK; Darin Stringer and wife, Sydney of Bend, OR; and Douglas Stringer and wife, Lisa of Petaluma, CA; 2 aunts, Miram Hengen of Reading and Jaclyn Boone Browne of Princeton, NJ; Companion, Tim Goede of Harrisburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078. Constance "Tina" Davis, 76, of Reading, passed away November 17, 2014 in The M.S. Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Reading on February 28, 1938, a daughter of the late Chester A. Sr. and Addie L. Davis. She is survived by her children, 3 daughters: Sheri, Stefanie, and Tish; 2 sons, Cortney (Sheila), Kerry, and a foster son Bradley Howard; two brothers, Chester A. Jr (Nancy) and Dwight (Christine) Davis. She was predeceased by a sister, La Cresia F. Davis. Left behind to cherish Tina's memory are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A service will be Saturday November 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. A viewing is Saturday 1-2 p.m. in the funeral home. Delong, Paul G. - Topton  
Paul G. DeLong, 86, of Kutztown, died Monday, November 17, 2014, in Lehigh Commons, Lower Macungie Township, where he was a resident for over two years. He was the husband of Ethel E. (Kehs) DeLong. They were married July 2, 1949. Born in Topton, he was a son of the late Daniel G. and Dorothy E. (Walbert) DeLong. Mr. DeLong was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Kutztown. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Paul was a 1946 graduate of Kutztown Area High School and also attended Penn State University. He was employed as a manufacturing supervisor by the former Caloric Corporation, Topton, for 40 years, retiring in 1988. Paul enjoyed playing the accordion in several local bands including Dream Valley Caravan and The Leadmen. He was also featured on local AM radio stations WSAN, WKAP, WHOL and WAEB. Survivors include his wife; daughters, JoAnn F. (DeLong) Zuber, Oley, and Bonnie J. DeLong, Kutztown; son, Anthony P., husband of Pamela (Steely) DeLong, Mertztown. Other survivors include a brother, Gene R. DeLong, Potter County, PA; four grandchildren: Kyle Zuber, Kishan Zuber, Christopher DeLong and Travis DeLong; and four great-grandchildren: Sarah Zuber, Jessica Zuber, Ryan DeLong and Elizabeth DeLong. Paul was predeceased by a brother, Earl L. DeLong. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 671 Noble Street, Kutztown, with Brother Marvin Mickley officiating. Relatives and friends may call Saturday from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
