Madary, Ruth (Schmehl) - West Reading  
Ruth Marie Madary, 90, passed away on December 19, 2014 in her Wilmington, DE residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Robert W. Madary Sr. whom she married October 11, 1941. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late L. Herbert and Ruth (Hafer) Schmehl. Marie was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School. She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Wilmington, DE. She was employed by UGI Corporation as a Payroll Supervisor for over 20 years until her retirement in 1982. Marie loved reading, gardening and cooking. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. But her true love was being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Robert W. Jr., husband of Bonnie L. Madary, Lititz; Susan C., wife of Gregory A. Raffauf, Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by her brother, John Schmehl, Chambersburg; five grandchildren: Philip W. Madary, David A. Madary, Alan R. Raffauf, Rachel M. Domenick, Katie E. Floyd and 14 great-grandchildren. Marie is predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Schmehl and L. Herbert Schmehl. A Memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Memmo, Luciano - Honey Brook  
Luciano Memmo, age 61, a resident of Stabon Manor, Reading passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2014 in Reading. Luciano was born in Italy and was the son of the late Gennaro and Elena (Neepaone) Memmo. He was a 1971 graduate of Wyomissing High School. Surviving is his loving brother, Camillo of Sinking Spring. Services are being handled privately by the family. Stanton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Honey Brook has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Menalis, Anthony - Reading  
Anthony F. Menalis, 90, of Cumru Township, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at 5:40 p.m. in Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Marie E. (Kelly) Menalis, who passed away August 24, 2012. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Anthony M. and Stella (Pabalas) Menalis. He was a 1944 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia and a 1948 graduate of Villanova University. He was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Menalis served in the United States Navy during World War II and was employed as a salesman for General Binding Corp. in Northbrook, IL until his retirement in 1992. He also was the owner of The Captain Learning Station in Reading and presented game making workshops for teachers. Mr. Menalis is survived by his daughter, Clare B. Wanner, with whom he last resided, and was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne M. Wilkinson, who passed away November 5, 2005. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Katherine M. Naus, wife of Jeremy P.. Naus, Elizabeth A. Baum and Anthony W. Wanner, along with his great-grandchildren: Reilly A. Naus, Zoe E. Naus and Delaney I. Naus. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Kerrick & Mitti Roads, Shillington, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Richard H. Clement celebrant. Interment will be held privately in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at church Tuesday 9-10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, 420 Holland Street, Shillington, PA 19607 in memory of Mr. Anthony F. Merkel, William - Reading  
William B. Merkel, 83, of Exeter Twp., passed away Sunday, December 14th, at Golden Living Center. William was born in Reading, on October 8, 1931, a son of the late Agnes (Dugan) and William H. Merkel. He was the husband of Mae E. (Gamber) Merkel. Bill was employed as a bus driver at the Wilson School District. He initially worked as a steel worker for Car Tech. Bill was a life member of the Reading Pagoda Motorcycle Club. William is also survived by two daughters, Donna M., wife of Gary Schlappich of Muhlenberg Twp.; Diane L., wife of John Wanner of Muhlenberg Twp.; two sons, William B. Jr., husband of Kathy Merkel of San Antonio,TX.; Jeffrey D., husband of Denise Merkel of Wernersville. He is also survived by 6 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 4 great-grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters. Memorial Service at at Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc.,1501 N. 11th St., Reading, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22nd. Interment private. Michael, Robert - Reading  
Robert R. "Bob" Michael, age 73 years, of Reading, passed away Monday, December 15th, at his residence. Bob was born in Longswamp Township on February 7, 1941, a son of the late Emily B. and James H. Michael and was the husband of Karen M. (Dwyer) Michael of Reading. He was a1959 graduate of Reading High School, then worked for Dana Corp., Reading for 15 years as an electrician. Following Dana, he was a self employed electrician and handyman. Bob is also survived by four sons: Rick Michael, Robert Michael Jr., Alan Michael, James Micheal; step-daughter, Janelle Iannuzzo; sister, Ann Michael and two brothers, Donald Reith and Richard Reith. He is also survived by three grandchildren and one step-grandson. Friends are invited to gather Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Feeney Funeral Home. Miller, Josephine (Lutz) - Reading  
Josephine L. Miller, 90, formerly of Wayne, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 in Broomall Presbyterian Village. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late J. Elmer and Esther K. (Titlow) Lutz. She was the widow of the late John T. Miller, who passed away January 17, 1997. They were married in 1946. She was a 1942 graduate of Mt. Penn High School and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Ithan in Villanova. She loved her family and was the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her entire family. Josephine is survived by one son, John T. Miller Jr. of Wayne, one daughter, Joanne, wife of Thomas Fowler of Greenville, SC: four grandchildren: William T. Fowler Jr., Stephen G. Fowler, Kristen E. Ross and Suzanne C. Hutelmyer and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call on Monday, December 22nd from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Mt. Penn. Minnich, Jesse - Hamburg  
Jesse R. Minnich, 82, of Mohrsville, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. He was the husband of Nancy P. (Wagner) Minnich. They were married on November 7, 1953 and celebrated sixty-one years of marriage. Jesse was born at home on the family farm in Hegins, Schuylkill Co. He was the son of the late Charles W. and Lula R. (Kimmel) Minnich. Jesse was a 1950 graduate of Reading High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He worked in sales for Monroe-Sweda Business Systems, Reading, and was also the Vice-President of sales and marketing for C.H. Briggs Hardware, Reading. Jesse was a past president of the Mohrsville Water Association, former school board director for Schuylkill Valley School District, member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the U.S. Air National Guard. He enjoyed the annual family fishing trips to Canada, hunting on the family homestead in Hegins and watching the birds from the window at home. Jesse was a "do-it-yourselfer" and handy with anything. He especially enjoyed the frequent hiking trips on the Appalachian Trail with his wife, children, grandchildren, and dogs. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Nancy, are three sons: David A. Minnich and his wife, Gisele, Perkiomenville; John C. Minnich and his wife, Joan, Hamburg; and Brian K. Minnich and his wife, Tama, Nazareth; one daughter, Sharon P. Minnich and her companion, Andrew Monroe, Lewisberry; ten grandchildren: Linda, Jeffrey, Jarrad, Andrew, Alicia, Luke, Logan, Julia, Jillian and Megan; and two great-grandchildren, Katarina and Stellan. Jesse is also survived by one brother, James Minnich, and his wife, Natalie, Wernersville; and one sister, Shirley (Minnich), wife of Richard Steffy, Shillington. He was predeceased by four brothers: Aaron, Charles, Leonard and Lamar. Relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Blue Mountain Family Restaurant, Shartlesville, to gather with Jesse's family and celebrate his life. Moll, Rhea (Rahn) - Hamburg  
Rhea F. Moll, 88, of Shoemakersville, passed away in her residence on Saturday, December 20, 2014. She was the wife of Curtis A. Moll, who died October 22, 1991. Born in Kutztown, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lillie (Zwoyer) Rahn. Rhea first worked at the Globe Underwear Company and then worked for many years as a waitress at Clark's Diner in Shoemakersville. She last worked at Mayfair Industries. Rhea was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. As a child, she and her sister played for John Cook's German Band. Rhea's greatest joy was entertaining as Minnie Pearl at different events. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shoemakersville Fire Company and a former member of the Centerport Grange. Rhea enjoyed quilting and took great joy in her neighbors and friends. Rhea is survived by one daughter, Deborah R. (Moll), wife of Gary T. Mason Sr., Lancaster; three grandchildren: Monica Mason, Gary Mason II and his wife, Andrea and Chad Mason and his wife, Sheri; and three great-grandchildren: Garret, Gavin and Celeste Mason. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Curtis Mason and her sister Eleanore. Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. Burial will follow in Maxatawny Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Luke's Church Memorial Fund, Fifth and Franklin Streets, Shoemakersville, PA 19555.
