OBara, Vincent - West Reading  
Vincent J. O'Bara passed away April 10, 2015, at the Reading Hospital. He was the loving husband of Theresa "Nina" O'Bara, whom he was married to for 62 years. Born in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Cehura) O'Bara. Vincent received a bachelor's degree from Penn State University in 1951 and a master's degree from West Chester University in 1975. Vincent was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, where he met his beautiful wife, Nina. He was employed by the Reading School District as Director of Physical Education Health and Safety for 24 years. Vince was a football standout at Johnstown High, which he directed to a 26-2-1 record in three seasons. He went on to become the starting quarterback at Penn State as a senior in 1950 under the coaching of first-year assistant Joe Paterno. He was an assistant football coach at Trenton Central (NJ) and at Albright College. He also was head football coach at Reading High and Central Dauphin and head track coach at Central Dauphin and Steelton-Highspire. He was a teacher and school administrator for 37 years, including two decades in Reading. He was inducted into the Berks County Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Candace L., wife of Al Yanosik, Barbara A., wife of Brian Bradbury, Vanessa M., wife of Warren Walborn and Kimberley A., wife of Andrew Kramer. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield. ORourke Sr., Edward - Englewood  
Edward P. O'Rourke Sr., 86, formerly of Whitfield, passed away March 24, 2015, in Denver, Colorado, where he resided for 15 years. His wife, Priscilla (Pat) preceded him in death on November 18, 2010. They were married for 55 years. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Sarah and Thomas F. O'Rourke. Ed grew up in Wilmette, IL, and graduated from Loyola Academy. Ed was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having served his country from 1950–1954 aboard the USS Sicily carrier and the USS Cutlass submarine. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Base Submarine Veterans, Denver, CO. Ed was the general manager for Emhart Corp. Consumer Products Division, Reading, PA. After moving to Tempe, AZ in 1979, he opened and ran E. P. O'Rourke and Assoc. until retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, Sinking Spring. Ed loved to golf and enjoyed playing locally at Willow Hollow Golf Course. Surviving are five children: Kathleen M., wife of Richard D. Heffner, Wyomissing; Ned, husband of Rita, Denver, CO; Theresa M., wife of Eric Magnin, Mesa, AZ; Timothy P. of Denver, CO; and Margaret M. (Maggie) of Denver, CO. There are also eight grandchildren: Matthew, Thomas, and Kelly Heffner; Kevin Magnin and fiancée, Maria Burckhard; Christine, wife of Jeremy House; Chris Wassell, husband of Alyssa; Lisa Wassell; and Samantha Larkin. He is also survived by great-grandsons: Peyton and Patrick House and Maddox Wassell. Other survivors include his brother, Thomas O'Rourke, husband of Sandy, Glenview, IL and brother-in-law, Robert Sullivan, husband of Bobbie, Tucson, AZ. Ed was predeceased by his sisters: Sally and her husband, James D. Hahn Sr., Geraldine Schaaf and Winifred Meyer.
