Salvatore, Josephine - Reading  
Josephine L. Salvatore, 87, formerly of Reading, passed away June 21, 2016, in Ephrata Manor. Her husband, Joseph C. Salvatore, passed away December 19, 2014. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Wolf) Laniecki. She was employed for the Berkshire Knitting Mills and ARA Food Service before her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter RCC. Surviving is a daughter, Joanne S., wife of DeWayne Kornman, of Ashburn, Virginia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery. Burial will follow. Contributions may be made to St. Peter Church at 322 S. 5th Street, Reading, PA 19602. Gallman-Sonoski Funeral Home, Inc., Reading, has charge of arrangements.

Schlarb, Carrie (Reber) - Wernersville  
Carrie M. (Reber) Schlarb, 85, of Shillington, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of the late Paul L. Schlarb who died in 1996. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late James I. and Mabel (Neiswender) Reber. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Wyomissing, and attended West Lawn United Methodist, West Lawn. She was a graduate of Wilson Senior High School, West Lawn. She was a member of the Muhlenberg Community Chorus, and Encore Horizon Center Chorus. Throughout her life she sang in various church choirs. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she loved her church. She is survived by seven children: James F. Potteiger, Fla.; Deborah S., wife of Charles Hershberger, Hamburg; Teresa A., wife of Robert Melcher, Robesonia; Patricia C., wife of Mark Hoover; Kennard F. Potteiger, husband of Betty Jane, Texas; Jeff S. Potteiger, husband of Vicky, Blandon; Paul L. Potteiger, companion of Linda Helwig, Hamburg; a brother, Bill Reber, Wyomissing; a sister, Patricia, wife of Nick Rappaselli, Reading; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Jack, Thomas, John, Alan, and Robert Reber; and three sisters: Betty Albright, Helen Reber and Mary Reber. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29th, at West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave., West Lawn. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington. Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville, is handling arrangements. Schonour, Michael - West Reading  
Michael John Schonour, 47, of Denver, Pa., passed away Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at Ephrata Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Janice A. (Taylor) Schonour. Born in West Reading, he was the son of Grace V. (Kachel) Schonour, formerly of Brecknock Township, now of Terre Hill, and the late John I. Schonour. Michael was a 1986 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School. He was employed by Timet Metal Corp., Morgantown, as a furnace operator for 21 years, last working May 3rd. Michael enjoyed hunting, gardening and working, but his true love was being with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: John H., husband of Mary (Sprecher) Schonour, New Holland; Megan N., wife of Nate Sokso, New Holland; and Micoleen K. Schonour, Denver. He is also survived by his sister, Michelle A. Schonour, Terre Hill; and will be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Molly. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 5:30 p.m., in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Schwartz, Elizabeth (Kennedy) - West Reading  
Elizabeth A. Schwartz, 97, of Reading, died June 24, 2016, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Her husband, William G. Schwartz, died February, 1989. Born in Camden, N.J., Elizabeth was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Rourke) Kennedy. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Exeter Township. Elizabeth is survived by six children: William J., husband of Chole Schwartz, Perryman, Maryland; Ellen, wife of David McDyer, Aston, Pa.; Joseph Schwartz, Pennside; Marie, widow of Robert Fetterhoff; and Theresa, widow of Daniel Reed, both of Essex Junction, Vt.; and Paul, husband of Lynn Schwartz, Menomonie, Wis.: also her sister, Mary Bell, Ardsley, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. There are eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Vincent Schwartz, and three brothers: Leo Kennedy, Paul Kennedy and John Kennedy. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted wife to her late husband. A devout Catholic, she prayed the rosary daily and had a special devotion to Padre Pio. She extended her compassion to all she encountered. She was an Irish storyteller with a good sense of humor. Her years of work began during the Depression with making malted milkshakes at the local drugstore; she also sewed sheets as part of the WPA. After graduating from Camden Catholic High School, she worked in various office jobs. She was proudest of her time with J. B. Lippincott Publishing Co., Philadelphia, where among other things she did some editing and traveled up and down the East Coast and as far as Chicago, Ill., to help market books at various book sales. She also attended night classes at University of Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Exeter Township, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Bally Road, Yeadon, PA. Showaker, Grace (Hassler) - Wernersville  
Grace M. (Hassler) Showaker, 89, formerly of Newmanstown, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Mifflin Health Care Center, Shillington. She was the wife of the late Luther D. "Ruby" Showaker, who died Sept. 9, 1994. Born in Sinking Spring, she was a daughter of the late David and Sadie A. (Fitterling) Hassler Sr. She retired in 1992 after 24 years with Valley Forge Flag Company, having previously worked 21 years with the former Penn Dale Knitting, Sinking Spring. She is survived by a son, Luther J. Showaker, Berlin, Md.; two brothers, David Hassler Jr., Sinking Spring, and Robert L. Hassler, Wernersville; two sisters, Ruth S. Boyer, Reinholds, and Peggy A. Schaeffer, Sinking Spring; three grandchildren: Tracey Hayden, Luke Showaker and Wendy Reppert; and three great-grandchildren: Collin Hayden, Luther Ryan Showaker and Ashley Gehman. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne F. Showaker; a brother, Harold J. Hassler; and a sister, Noreen S. Ochs. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24th, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville. A viewing will be held 9:30-10:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Shugar, Raymond - Reading  
Raymond Joseph Shugar, 85, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away June 25, 2016 in the Reading Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Joan E. (Morrisson) Shugar. Raymond was born in Reading on September 7, 1930, a son of the late John L. and Mary A. (Daubert) Shugar. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was a Navy veteran. Ray was employed by Met-Ed as a surveyor for 40 years, retiring on January 31, 1991. He is also survived by his daughters: Eileen L. and her husband, Mark Hoelscher, of Reading; Phyllis E. and her husband, Boyd Young, of Reading; Jean E. Shugar and her companion, Kenneth Watkins, of Bardstown, Ky.; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Ray was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen M. Greenawalt, August 2009; and by his 4 brothers. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1 p.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Shultz, Delane - Reading  
Delane Leroy Shultz, 87, of Spring Twp., went home to be with his Lord on Monday, June 20, 2016. He was the husband to Dolores E. (Sowa) Shultz for 63 years. Born on March 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Robert and Edna (Miller) Shultz. Delane was employed as a printer at Rieck Printing and West Lawn Printing, retiring in 1996. He was a member of West Wyomissing Chapel for 30 years, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Recently, he attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God, in West Lawn. He served on the board of directors for Greenview Bible Camp, where he shared his love of horsemanship with the campers. Delane enjoyed horseback riding, tennis, racquetball and golf. He and his wife enjoyed time spent on the lake with their canoe, but most importantly spending time with family. He will be remembered for his love of laughter and sharing stories. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Dolores, is a daughter, Cindy Arnold, wife of Roland; son, Glenn Shultz, husband of Linda; grandchildren: Jennifer Edmond, Kevin Arnold, David Shultz and Erica Wolfe; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leon Shultz. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Shultz. Graveside service will be held in Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 12 noon, Rev. Smith, Kelli (Hafer) - Reading  
Kelli L. Smith, 38, formerly of Reading and most currently of Glen Burnie, Md., passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, in the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. She was the wife of Aaron B. Smith. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Leroy Hafer, husband of Kathy, of Exeter Township, and the late Karen (Woodworth) Hafer. Kelli was a graduate of Exeter High School in 1996. She loved bowling, video games and her cats. In addition to her husband and father, Kelli is survived by two brothers, Christopher Hafer and Brandon Mohn. Stoudt, Rosemarie (Lepera) - West Reading  
Rosemarie T. Stoudt, 80, passed away June 22, 2016 in Keystone Villa, Fleetwood. She was the beloved wife of the Ronald R. Stoudt, who died January 30, 2013. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Helen (Weihe) Lepera. Rosemarie was a graduate of Reading High School. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in her early years and then made her home at Atonement Lutheran Church, where she was very involved. Rosemarie was an avid reader. She also enjoyed shopping and gardening, but her true love was taking care of her family, the center of her world. She is survived by her son, Dr. Mark R., husband of Dr. Carelyn E. Stoudt, Maryland; two siblings, Anthony Lepera and Frank Lepera. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Kaitlyn E. Stoudt, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosemarie is predeceased by her siblings: Bernice Phillips, Bernard Lepera and Pasquale Lepera Jr. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Indiantown GAP. Paul J. Stump Sr., 98, of Wernersville, North Heidelberg Twp., passed away Wed., June 22, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital, Reading. He was the husband of the late Florence L. (Long) Stump, who died Jan. 18, 2016. Born in Wernersville, he was a son of the late Wallace L. and Mary Ellen (Texter) Stump. He was a lifelong member of North Heidelberg Church. He was a member of Robesonia and Mt. Pleasant Fire Company. He is survived by three sons: Paul J. Stump Jr., George L. Stump and Marvin A. Stump, all of North Heidelberg Twp.; two daughters, Patricia A. Underkofler, Bernville, and Ruth V. Smith, Brownsboro, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Louis Stump, and four sisters: Mary, Mae, Sadie and Gene. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W.
