Ames, Gloria (Moser) - Reading  
Gloria M. Ames, 89, formerly of Reading, passed away Monday, May 23rd, 2016, at Manor Care- West Reading. Gloria was born in Lancaster on May 28, 1926, a daughter of the late Ruth and Lewis Moser. She was the widow of Christy P. Ames. Mr. Ames died in 1975. Gloria was employed most of her life as a house cleaner. Gloria is survived by a daughter, Ruth M. Livinghouse, of Reading. She is also survived by four sisters: Evelyn, Mary, Barbara and Grace; three brothers, Lewis, Ronald and Wilbur. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27th at Charles Evans Cemetery,1119 Centre Ave., Reading. Arnold, Jennie (DiPaolo) - West Reading  
Jennie Marie Arnold, 101, passed away May 28, 2016, in the Reading Hospital. Her husband, Carl G. Arnold, died on February 12, 2011. Born in Cresson, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Louisa (Quaglia) DiPaolo. Jennie was employed by Narrow Fabrics in Wyomissing, where she made lace for fancy dresses and parachute cords during World War II. She also worked at Moore's Diner in the city of Reading. Jennie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. She also volunteered at Berks Heim for 18 years. Jennie is survived by her son, C. Gary, husband of Anne Arnold, Sinking Spring. Two grandchildren, Pamela A., wife of Michael J. Progansky III, and Keith J., husband of Jennifer Arnold; three great-grandchildren: Paige A. Progansky, Braeden P. Arnold and Colin J. Arnold, also survive her. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by siblings: William DiPaolo, Antonette Reiter, Joseph DiPaolo and Julia DiPaolo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. in Gethsemane Chapel, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Entombment will follow the service. A viewing will be held Thursday from 9:30-11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Asthon, Robert - Reading  
Robert "Bobby" J. Asthon, 55, of Kentucky, formerly of Reading, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 22, 2016. He was a beloved son of Marina (Yatron) Asthon and the late John George Robert Asthon. He was the father and "brah" of his son, Greyson T. Asthon, of Kentucky. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, on May 13, 1961, Bobby lived a full and happy life and excelled at anything he did. Whether it was academics, athleticism, business or humanity, he was the recipient of numerous awards, medals, trophies and achievements throughout his life. As a child, his academic abilities merited his skipping a grade. In high school, he was one of a select group of students accepted into an accelerated undergraduate to graduate program. As an adult, he enjoyed a long and successful career as an insurance underwriter who consistently demonstrated great business acumen. Bobby became an Eagle Scout at age 17. As a teen, he was a volunteer at Bryn Mawr Hospital and also coached little league baseball. He was a skilled bowler, golfer, fisherman and was a highly regarded figure in the free-style skateboarding community. Bobby's early years found him living in Pakistan, Italy, New York and eventually Pennsylvania. As an adult, he lived in Kansas, Kentucky and Pennsylvania besides traveling much of the country on business. In recent years, he traveled to Sweden and Canada to cheer on and support his son, Greyson, compete and win World Amateur free-style Skateboarding Championship titles. His greatest achievement and passion in life was his "best buds, always," Greyson. Bobby was father, mother and best friend to him; the person he was most proud of and most valued in his life. In addition to his mother, Marina, and his son, Greyson, Bobby is survived by a brother, Nicholas H. Asthon, and his wife, Min-Yeh G. Chang, of Brookline, Mass.; a sister, Marilyn Y. Bahr, and her husband, Thomas, of Beverly Farms, Mass.; a nephew, Trevor James Bahr; an elderly canine "baby," Peenie; numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, business associates, customers and dear friends, especially Max, Lee and Vonna. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. Services for Bobby will be Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Friday, May 27, 2016, from 7 to 9 p.m. Bobby will be laid to rest in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading. Ayala, Carmen - Reading  
Carmen Ayala, 80, passed away May 21, 2016 in the Reading Hospital. Her husband Jesus Ayala passed away in 1998. Born in Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Carlos Lozado and Maria Diaz. She was employed as a buyer for Jo-Ad Arkay Mills, before her retirement. She is survived by a son, Michael, husband of Lisa Ayala; two daughters, Rose Marie Colon, and Sonia, wife of Carlos Perez; a brother, Charles Lozada; a sister, Martha Gonzalez; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Manuel Rivera; and a sister, Gloria Falcon; and by a grandson, Anthony Ayala. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter RCC. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends may pay their condolences on Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Gallman-Sonoski Funeral Home, Inc., Reading.
