Papademetriou, Spyridon - Reading  
The Rev. Spyridon C. Papademetriou of Wyomissing, PA, age 89, died on May 22, 2015, at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was the former pastor of St. Matthew's Greek Orthodox Church in Reading, PA, from 1974-1998 and during his retirement, he served as an assistant pastor at Saints Constantine and Helen Church, also in Reading. Rev. Papademetriou was born on September 25, 1925, in the Petralona region of Karpenision, Greece, to Rev. Constantine and Ourania Papademetriou and moved to the Unites States in 1945 at the invitation of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North America to study at the Holy Cross School of Theology, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a Bachelor in Divinity. He served as pastor of the Annunciation Church in Newburyport, MA, for 8 years and of the St. Spyridon's Church in Newport, RI, for 15 years before moving to Reading. He was honored in 1971 with the highest rank of the Greek Orthodox priesthood, Proto-Presbyter, and was named Priest of the Year of the Pittsburg Diocese in 1991. He has been involved with many religious and civic organizations throughout his ministry. He was invited to offer the Invocation to both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives as well as to many other governmental and civic organizations. He was predeceased by his spouse of 59 years, Metaxia (Zerveas) Papademetriou and his son, Constantine. He is survived by his daughter, Ourania and her husband, Jon Belisonzi; and his son, Stylianos John and his wife, Diane (Innis); and also by his beloved grandchildren: Eleni and her husband, William; Spyridon Alex and his wife, Jacqueline; Lisa; Metaxia; and Cassandra; and by his adored great-granddaughter, Lola. He is also survived by his sister, Olga Marudas, and his brothers: Rev. George, Evanagelos and Alkiviades; and pre-deceased by his brother, John. In addition, he leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews and cousins both here in the United States and in Greece. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 25th with a Trisagion Prayer at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, May 26th a Divine Liturgy will be held at 8:30 a.m. with a viewing to follow at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with interment following at the Charles Evans Cemetery. All services will be held at Sts. Constantine and Helen Church Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rev. Peggues Sr., Thomas - Reading  
Thomas Peggues Sr., 78, died of natural causes on Sunday, May 17, 2015, while in the Reading Health Systems. He was the husband of the late Cordelia (Cherry) Peggues. Born in Ronco, PA, on November 23, 1936, he was the son of the late Livon and Jeanette (Alford) Peggues. Surviving are a daughter, Marceline S. McIntosh (husband, James), and three sons: Thomas Jr., Ronald C. and Jeffrey E., all of Reading. Other survivors include a sister, Alice Peggues of New Brunswick, NJ. There are also nine grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be Friday, May 22, 2015, in the T.J. Baker Funeral Home, 222 N. Front Street. Jose A. Hernandez Perez, 55, passed May 20, 2015, in Albert Einstein Hospital, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Marlene Acevedo Hernandez. Pressley, Michael - Reading  
Michael D. Pressley, 59, of Reading, passed away Sunday, May 24th, at St. Joseph Medical Center. Michael was born in Reading on May 11, 1956, a son of the late Della (Geisey) and Robert Pressley. He worked in the maintenance department at Exide, Reading. Mr. Pressley was a member of the board of trustees at the Jackson Democratic Club, Reading. Michael graduated from Fleetwood High School in 1976. Michael is survived by a daughter, Ashley (Pressley) Martinez of Mt. Penn and a son, Brent Pressley of Doylestown; and his girlfriend, Sunshine. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert and Timothy. Michael is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Aliyah, Jared, Markis, Cole and Rebecca. Priest, Mary (Grofe) - Pottstown  
Mary G. (Grofe) Priest, 87, of Boyertown, wife of John J. Priest, died Sunday at Manatawny Manor, East Coventry. Born in Boyertown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles Grofe and the late Mabel (Reidenauer) Grofe. Mary worked as a lab technician for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., and also Pillsbury for twenty six years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Columbkill Catholic Church, Boyertown. Mary was a member of Twin Ponds Golf Club. Surviving besides her husband are three sons: John C. Priest and his wife, Cheryl, Boyertown; Joseph M. Priest and his wife, Christine, Reading; Timothy J. Priest, Boyertown; a daughter, Janie, wife of Jerry Arbaugh, West Virginia; a sister, Mabel "Nuet" McCord, Boyertown; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers: David, Daniel, Jimmy Grofe. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St., Pottstown. Officiating will be Father Martin Kern. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Boyertown. There will be a viewing Friday, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home.
