Ober Morning Obituary

Ober Morning, 90, died peacefully at his home in District Township on August 19, 2014.

He was the loving husband of 59 years of Ilse (Hertrich) Morning. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Ober and Estella (Butz) Morning.

He attended the Hill School in Pottstown, and he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University, Class of 1950. Later he received a Master's Degree in Sociology from Yale and a Master's Degree in European History from the University of Pennsylvania.

He chose to pursue a career in academia, teaching first at Wilson College in Chambersburg and later at Bloomsburg University.

He was admired for his sense of humor and wit and his depth of knowledge of many subjects. He was a great lover of nature and of animals, a staunch conservationist, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ilse; his daughter, Ingrid Estella Morning, and his grandson, Vladimir William Morning.

Services will be held privately. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., of Emmaus, (610) 965-2421, is handling the arrangements.
