He was the husband of Donna D. (Dellicker) Shurr, with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Born in Exeter Township, he was a son of the late Clair W. and Cora B. (Endy) Shurr.
Clair was a graduate of Exeter High School in 1957.
Clair was employed by Birdsboro Steel as a mill operator from 1975-1986 and also bartended part-time for the Yellow House Hotel. He was then employed by Eastern Millwork, St. Lawrence, for 11 years, and was an employee of the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. from 1964-1974, and again from 2001-2012. He also delivered meat trays for C.P. Rhoads Meats-Stonersville.
Clair was a member of Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, Bemps Hunting Lodge, Nordmont, Sullivan County, PA, the Birdsboro Sportsman's Club, Stonersville Fire Company, West Ends Fire Company, Stowe, and played softball for many years with the Exeter Bulls.
In addition to his wife, Clair is survived by a son, Steven W. Shurr, husband of Beatrice of Bernville; two grandsons, Michael W. and Brandon J. Shurr; two sisters, Linda L., wife of Donald High of Douglassville, and Donna L. Shurr of Reading. He was predeceased by his sisters, Carolyn A. and Virginia, and brothers Thomas A., Martin L. Sr., and Richard.
Services from the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. Mount Penn on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Interment in Schwarzwald Cemetery.
