Bertram Hassler Obituary


Bertram F. Hassler, 91,

of Denver, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Manor Care of Sinking Spring.

He was born in Berks County to the late Wayne and Gertrude (Fitterling) Hassler, and was the husband of Helen (Phillips) Hassler, with whom he was married 68 years.

For more than 40 years, Bertram worked as a supervisor for Bollman Hat Factory until his retirement in 1984. He was a life member of the Adamstown VFW Post 8795.

He enjoyed sports and was a Phillies fan. He loved his two grandsons and enjoyed attending their sporting and school events.

Bertram was a Sergeant in the US Army and served his country during WWII, in the European Theater.

In addition to his wife, Bertram is survived by his son, Randolph, husband of Lynne (Miller) Hassler of Denver; a sister, Mary McDennis of Adamstown; grandsons Rory, husband of Michelle Hassler, of Pittsburgh and Ryan Hassler of Temple. He was preceded in death by sister, Martha Firestone.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sandra L. Gideon officiating. Burial will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bertram's memory may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 80 E. Main Street Adamstown, PA 19501.
