I just found out with sorrow about Jason's passing. He worked with me on a house my wife and I were renovating in Allentown. I met him out in front of the house. He was looking for a Chinese restaurant to get some lunch. We got talking and I offered to pay him for working with me the next day and we'd see how it went. He ended up working with me for a couple of months at least. I greatly enjoyed his company and he was a very hard worker who anticipated what I needed next and would have it ready for me. He also learned quickly. We had to install a drywall ceiling and I gave him a short lesson on taping the joints and smoothing joint compound. Jason and I did that ceiling together, each of us handling different seams. Jason's work was perfect and I didn't have to rework anything that he did. We installed ceramic tile together and a bunch of other stuff. He was also amazing at locating tools and supplies that I couldn't find. Anytime I couldn't find something, I would just talk to Jason and he would find it in a very short time. We also spent a lot of time talking about all kinds of things while we worked. We had planned to get frozen yogurt and enjoy some time relaxing together once the renovation was finished. I did cook him breakfast at my house a couple of times before we started to work, but I was looking forward to having greater time with him apart from the house project. I count it as a privilege to have known him as a friend and miss him greatly. I wish I had known about his service so I could have paid my respects to his family. We had made plans to drive to his Dad's to get supplies for a chimney liner he was going to install for me. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet his Dad to tell him what a wonderful son he had.

Dear Gil, Maryann, Vicki, Heather, and the rest of the Dierolf family:
I send my sincerest condolences during this difficult time. At one point in time, I shared a very special bond with Jason. Gil, I actually stalked your name in the good old yellow pages (haha), and called your home in the past, hanging up numerous times scared to leave a message, just to simply needing to know how my old best friend was doing and if he was okay, I failed that conquest. Regardless, your son touched my life in an unexplainable way, and I will always and forever hold him so very close to my heart. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

To the family of one of my dearest friends.. may God bless you all and keep you during this difficult time. I have strong and kind memories of Jason. We spent a great deal of time together as friends and at one point as house-mates. He loved his family dearly and always spoke of his girls. They were the center light of his life. I met Jason in 2007 at EDI. We instantly became friends and he had a great impact on my life. We often spent time at Grings Mill, we would listen to his favorite bands Third Eye Blind and Pearl Jam on long rides, and of course, we watched many a Notre Dame game together. We send all of our love and prayers and fond memories of Jason to your family.
