Alexia Barnett Obituary

Alexia M. Barnett, 6, of Sinking Spring passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, peacefully while in the company of family members at her residence.

Born in West Reading, PA, on Sept. 21, 2004, she was a daughter of Aaron Lord and Kristine E. Barnett of Sinking Spring.

Lexi loved ballet, Disney World and especially Taylor Swift. She was a well-loved Penn State Thon child. Even with all her trials and tribulation, for such a young-short life, she gave comfort to all and made those around her smile. She will always be in many hearts and minds and will not be forgotten.

In addition to her mother and father, Lexi is survived by two brothers, Ethan S. and Brayden D. Lord, at home; maternal grandparents, Wanda L. (nee Fick) and Robert Barnett of Sinking Spring, PA; maternal great-grandparents, Constance E. (nee James) and Larry K. Folk of Birdsboro, PA, and Jacqueline (nee Harvey), widow of Robert Barnett of Somerset, PA; Uncle Brandon, husband of Natalie Carrier of Birdsboro, PA; Uncle Timothy, husband of Lindsey Frey of New Jersey; and Aunt Jennifer (nee Frey), wife of Ronnie Raffle of Reading, PA.

Religious Service at Feeney Funeral Home, Reading, PA, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Friends are invited to call Monday 5 to 8 p.m. at John P. Feeney Funeral Home, Inc. Friends are also invited to call Tuesday 10 to 11 a.m. at Feeney Funeral Home.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made for her brothers' college fund to Love for Lexi Fund c/o any Metro Bank or mail to: 3045 N. 5th Street, Reading, PA 19605. Interment at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Twp., PA.

Besides Feeney Funeral Home, others providing their services "gratis" for Lexi's services are The Klee Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Shillington; the Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading; Rev. Robert Aregood; Berks County Sheriff Eric Weaknecht; Forest Hills Memorial Park; Esterly Burial Vault Company; Petals on Penn Florist; and Heck Brothers Florist; and the following foundations: Final Farewell Ministries, Hershey Four Diamonds, and Hope for Cope Foundation. After reading Lexi's touching article in the Tuesday Reading Eagle, they all stepped forward graciously to help our family deal with a tragic loss, the family said.

Arrangements entrusted to the John P. Feeney Funeral Home, in Reading's Centre Park Historic District, 625 N. 4th St. at Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601. Obituary and condolences at www.johnfeeneyfuneralhome.com.

Though I never knew Lexi, I'd read about her in the newspaper. I'm the mother of a child who also had neuroblastoma and now has Leukemia. I know the struggles that your family went through, but can't begin to understand how you are feeling. I hope someone (maybe the newspaper) will let Taylor Swift know of her passing and what that time with her meant to Lexi. May her memories live on in your hearts.

I will pray that the days get easier. It's hard to understand how someone so young and loved can be taken from us, but it has to be remembered that our earthly life is short, and it's the truely wise, like alexia, who make the most of it. One day, everyone who is in pain over her loss will be with her again. I'm sure finding inspiration from her to live an awesome life will be easy. RIP Alexia! I also found it touching so many businesses stepped up and made remembering her easier by taking care of her arrangements. It's just a testament to how special she was. Peace be with you.

Krissy,
I continue to pray for strength for your family during this difficult time. I know I have already left you a message on here, but I just wanted you to know I'm still thinking of all of you...I also wanted to share this with you to help you heal:
"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
Lexi is whole again, she got her wings and she is flying free. She was always a free spirit but now she is free of all of her pain. She is still with you. As I drove home today I saw a group of kids at the Redners Quick Shop near my house having a lemonade stand to raise money in honor of her...all I could say as I drove past was "great job kiddo, you're still changing the world even though you aren't physically here. It hurts you and your family so deep because she is not physically here with you any more but I truly believe she is never far!

To my " Krissy Lizzy" and Second Family,
There are no words that I can say that will comfort you in this hard time, but I hope to bring a smile to you as we embrace the happy times and memories we have shared with Lexi. She has truly brought our families together and gave a different meaning to being neighbors. Lexi always did big things and the way she has touched a whole community is typical Lexi fashion. It has been an honor to be her godmother and I am thankful to you all for that. I will cherish all our times we have shared baking, doing crafts and painting fingernails. All of our goofy times on the backporch will hold a big place in my heart. This little girl has changed my life in so many ways from the day that I had met her. She has taught me about love, life and family to say the least. I am a better person from having Lexi in my life. Keep in mind that you are surrounded by many people who love you and will help you to get through one day at a time. I love you all and I will deeply miss her more than I will ever be able to explain.
Love & Kisses,
Aunt Jess-Jess

Krissy,
I am one of Jess's best friends from childhood. I remember sitting on the porch a few summers ago with you guys and Lexi just making us laugh. Her zest for live and her ability to be wise beyond her years caught my attention from the moment I met her. After losing my dad two years ago I really realized just how important it was to live your life while you are here and Lexi did just that. I know it is hard to hear right now but I can promise you Lexi in not far...I feel my dad around me all the time. She will let you know she is still with you one day if she hasn't already...find comfort in that. I know the hole in your heart is so fresh but know that there are a lot of people here for your family...please let us know what we can do to help ease this terrible time of you life for you!
HUGS to you and your family.
Love and Friendship,
Kristin Moyer

I am so very sorry for your loss. The heartbreak of losing a child is unlike any other. After fighting leukemia with my son for 6 months, I can't imagine the toll that a four year battle takes on a child and a family. I know that nothing that is said will decrease your pain, but please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I truly believe that Alexia will continue to smile down on you from heaven with all of the other little angels.
