David Kaufman Obituary
David S. Kaufman, 100,
a resident
of the Highlands at
Wyomissing (Berks County), passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2013.
David was born Sep-tember 29, 1913 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of the late Sidney D. and Emily (Scheibler) Kaufman. He was the husband of the late Doris (Umstetter)
Kaufman who predeceased him in 1994.
Dave graduated from the former Conshohocken High School. He worked as a
supervisor for Macke Vending Company of Philadelphia for over 40 years before retiring in 1975.
He was a resident of Blue Bell, Montgomery County, for over 40 years, having
later moved to Collegeville and then to Wyomissing, (Berks County) PA.
He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army serving in the 4th Armored Division and later in the Air Corps as a glider pilot in the South
Pacific, stationed in New Guinea.
Dave was a life member of the Centre Square Fire
Company, Blue Bell, PA. He was also a life member of the Keystone Fire Chief's
Association and the Adamstown VFW. He was a
member of the Lower Providence Presbyterian Church of Collegeville, PA. He was the oldest living member of the Norristown Maenner Chor Club.
Surviving are sons: David C. (and his wife Sigrid)
Kaufman, of Ocala, Florida; Gerald R. (and his wife
Sandra B.) Kaufman,
of Norristown, PA; and
Richard A. (and his wife Jan S.) Kaufman, of Reading, PA, as well as 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his son, Ronald G.
Kaufman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for David on Wednesday November 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA - (610) 277-1600. Friends may call on Wednesday morning (viewing) from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment
at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Limekiln Pk., Prospectville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the
family would appreciate
memorial contributions in David's memory be sent to: Center Square Fire Company, 1298 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422.

Uncle Dave was an extremely talented technician with a large heart. The fact that so many of the younger firefighters called him Uncle Davey is the best indication that I can give you.

The National World War II Glider Pilots Association, Inc. is sorry to hear that F/O Kaufman has made his last flight and we offer condolences to his family.
Mr. Kaufman kindly served as an Area Commander and as a Wing Commander for our Association. He was one of our very early members and we appreciate his service to our country and to our Association.

It was an honor to know this man. He was a member of the Bavarian Festival Assoc. and joined our group to Kitchener,Canada Oktoberfest. We became
great friends and he has so many friends in our Assoc. He will sadly
missed by all the lives he touched.He
