Helen Stevenson Obituary

Helen J. Stevenson (nee Jones), age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Barclay Friends of Wyomissing Hills, formerly of Wernersville and Springfield, Delaware County, PA. She is survived by her husband, Richard, to whom she was married for over 66 years.

She was the beloved mother of Richard A. of West Chester, and his wife, Christina Valocchi, and Barry of Norwood, and his wife, Susan; loving Mom-mom to Jason (Elena), Jared (Katharine), Jennifer, Jamie, and Brett; and loving great-mom-mom to Quinlan and Zoe. Helen was pre-deceased by her brother, Gordon, and her sister, Marian.

Helen faithfully attended the Church of the Redeemer in Springfield and Saint Alban's Church in Sinking Spring. She was the rector's warden in the Church of the Redeemer and a long-standing member of the choir in both churches.

Helen was the consummate volunteer. She worked in senior homes while living in Springfield and began a long dedication to the meals on wheels service. She was honored after retiring from meals on wheels with 50 years of service. She was a devoted family member to many nieces and nephews and passes on the torch of the "oldest living Jones" to her nephew, Gordy. She was a devoted wife, proud mother, loving homemaker, and loving grandmother.

The memorial service will be held at St. Alban's Church on Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will occur prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to: St. Alban's Church, 2848 St Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608.

Helen embodied welcome and hospitality. I will always remember her warm greeting the first day I walked into St. Albans back in 2006. I have no doubt she has been welcomed into paradise by the Holy One whom she loved and served so faithfully.
