Martha Fox Obituary


Martha A."Dolly" Fox, 82, of Dryville passed away February 17. 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown.She was the wife of the late Earl A. "Jack" Fox who passed away on February 3, 2010.

Born on January 2, 1931, in Fredericksville, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Sally (Eshbach) Hess.

Dolly and Jack acquired the Dryville Hotel in the village of Dryville in 1948, and it was a family–run business for 63 years until 2012 when it was sold.

She was a member of Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, Dryville. Other memberships included the Lyons Fire Company and Pike Township Sportsmen's Association. Her interests included sitting on the porch at the hotel, catching up with the daily neighborhood events. Other interests were playing bingo and bus trips to the casinos.

Survivors include daughters Linda L. (Fox), wife of Patrick Murphy of Odenton, MD; Patricia A. Fox, companion of Harley D. Lichtenwalner of Kutztown; Pamela L. (Fox), wife of Rodney P. Brunner, of Kutztown; and a son, Jeffrey L. Fox, Dryville.

There are also grandchildren: Marc T. Murphy, Major Corry P. Murphy, Marlo P. Faranda and Kimberly L. Conrad; and great-grandchildren Victoria, Bryce, Caroline, Nathan, Matthew, Marissa and Nikkita. Also surviving are sisters Mary (Hess) Reppert of Fredericksville; June (Hess) Unger of Huffs Church; and brothers, Lloyd O. Hess of Dryville, David Hess, Huffs Church, and John Hess of Topton. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ida (Hess) Weidner, Lester Hess, Alfred Hess, William Hess, Nevin Hess, Calvin Hess and Robert Hess.

Memorial services will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Dryville. A visitation with the family will be held at the church from 12 noon - 1:00 p.m.

The family requests memorial contributions to be made in her memory to either the memorial fund of Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522 or to the American Heart Association, 212 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.
