Elfa Mae (Carpenter) McDonald, of Valois, N.Y., passed away peacefully on June 18, 2018, at Bethany Village.

Elfa was born in Candor, N.Y., on January 26th, 1937, one of five children. She was the daughter of the late Helen (Gallow) and late Arthur Carpenter; and was also predeceased by her brother, Maurice Duane Carpenter.

Elfa was a lifelong resident of Reading, Pa., where she lived with "the love of her life," the late Irvin Pappy Lerch, of Reading, Pa.

Elfa is survived by her brother, Alvie Carpenter (Ann) of Peterborough, N.H.; her sisters, Gloria Pangallo, of Montour Falls, N.Y., and Mary Doyle (John) of Valois, N.Y., along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Elfa is also survived by, and was a devoted loving grandmother to

Diana Nguyen (Noel Perez); great-grandmother to Samuel Mendez Nguyen, Camden Nguyen and Ariella Perez-Nguyen; best friend, Phi Phung, all residing in Reading, Pa.

Elfa retired from Wilson Safety Products of Reading, Pa., and she worked at Willard State Hospital, Willard, N.Y., for many years. Elfa loved animals great and small, her home, gardening, ceramics, bowling, crocheting and knitting. Elfa will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.

According to Elfa's wishes, no public or private funeral services will be held. Internment will be in Seneca Union Cemetery, Valois, N.Y.
