He was born May 4, 1927, in Reading, PA, the son of Harrison M. Fix and Emma L. Zerbe. Joyce B. Fix, his wife of 50 years, predeceased him in 2002.
Mr. Fix began service with the U.S. Coast Guard as an Apprentice Seaman in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1949. He later graduated from the Wharton School with a degree in Accounting.
Mr. Fix had a successful career in the apparel and embroidery industry, working for various manufacturers in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, before retiring in 1989.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Denise Fix of Shelton, CT; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Leslie Fix of Alpharetta, GA; grandsons, Erick Fix of New York, NY, and Bryan Fix of Shelton, CT; also granddaughters, Jordan and Payton Fix of Alpharetta, GA. Siblings are David M. Fix of Myerstown, PA, and Kathryn Maret of Wilmington, NC.
Mr. Fix was a resident of Trumbull, CT, for 35 years before retiring to Shell Point Retirement Community in Ft. Myers, FL. While there, he continued to meet the needs of those in his community by providing transportation, food, and extending himself to others with various acts of kindness.
A committal service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Shillington, PA, on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be given to ECHO (Educational Concerns for Hunger Organization) of Ft. Myers (www.echonet.org) or the Memorial Fund of Black Rock Congregational Church (www.brcc.org).
