George W. Nygard, of Spring Twp., Pa., passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in the Tower Health Reading Hospital under the care of Heartland Hospice.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., June 15, 1932, to Bill and Esther Nygard.

Following high school, he enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War in the 2nd Armor Division.

He moved to Reading in 1973 and was employed by Dana Corporation, retiring in 1995 as a design engineer. During retirement, he was a "snowbird" in Arizona for 9 years and a full-time resident for 10 additional years, recently moving back to the Reading area.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Nygard; and daughters, Sharon Nygard and Debbie Meas (David); and one

grandchild, Jessica Nygard, all reside in the Reading area.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berks County Humane Society, 1801 N. 11th St., Reading, PA 19604, or the Reading Public Museum, 500 Museum Rd., Reading, PA 19611. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
