James A. Doyle, 77, formerly of West

Reading, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 11, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born March 12, 1941, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jim was the son of the late James T. and

Elizabeth A. (Bentfeld) Doyle.

He was married to Barbara (Buckley) Doyle for 54 years.

Jim lived most of his life in Reading, graduating from Central Catholic High School and attended Columbia Prep, Washington, D.C., before entering the Air Force, valiantly serving our nation proudly from 1961 to 1965. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he worked in data processing and real estate and finance, serving Berks County for over 50 years, including over 20 years with Re/Max of Reading, retiring in 2017.

Jim loved all sports, especially tennis and football,

cheering on his Philadelphia Eagles for many years. He was so proud to see them finally win the Super Bowl earlier this year. He also enjoyed hunting and running with his dogs, and completed three marathons in his younger years.

Jim was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

More than anything, he loved watching his kids and grandkids compete in sports, and he was a dedicated "Coach" in youth football and CYO basketball.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Jim is survived by their five children: Angela Doyle Dennis, Flying Hills; Matthew, husband of Colleen, Sinking Spring; James, husband of MariBeth, Wayne; Patrick, husband of Heather, Sinking Spring; and Justin, Shillington. Jim will be dearly missed by his 13 grandchildren: Madalyn, Olivia, Meghan, Kevan, Claire, Erin, Caroline, Kayleigh, Abigail, Owen, Nathan, Timothy and Shane.

Also surviving is a sister, Valerie Miller, of Benson, Ariz.

He was predeceased by a sister, Claudia Celmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 16, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held Monday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading.

Jim was also a member and past president of the St. Brendan's division of the AOH, and was a longtime member and officer of the Berks County Irish American Fraternal Association. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the Berks Irish's annual fundraiser, Celtic Fest, on Saturday, July 21st, at Willow Glen Park in Sinking Spring where Jim's many contributions to the organization will be recognized.
