Mary Violetta (Noss) Freeman, 78, of Penn Township, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. in Laurel Center, Hamburg. She was the wife of Wayne W. Freeman.

Born in Barto, Montgomery County, Mrs. Freeman was the daughter of the late

Elwood W. and Emma V. (Shade) Noss.

She was a graduate of Conrad Weiser High School and Reading Muhlenberg Vocational Nursing Program. Mary was a member of Zion's Church in Hamburg and loved being a nurse, working at Berks Heim as a charge nurse for 25 years and receiving numerous service awards for perfect attendance, letters of commendation, special thank you for service and recognition as Berks Heim's Outstanding Nurse of the Year in 1985.

She was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, a volunteer at the Lutheran Home at Topton in the home care division, head of the Sunshine Committee at Berks Heim (night shift), served as Key Women at Topton Lutheran Home and was a 4H leader for 10 years.

Mary was a mother to her daughter, Maggie, of Oley; son, Wayne, husband of Ginny, of Hamburg; and son, Douglas, husband of Julie, of Hamburg. She was a loving grandmother to 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; and a great-grandmother to 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret, wife of Walter Duchan, of Bernville, Marilyn, wife of James Beissel, of Mohnton; and brother, Henry Noss, of Sinking Spring.

Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and George Noss.

Funeral Service will be held in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, Friday, July 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Randy Bond will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in Bean Funeral Home, Friday, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
