Ralph F. Murgia , 87, of Stowe, Pa., passed at his home on September 3, 2018.

Born in Stowe, Pa., he was the son of the late Gioacchino and Grazia (Maida) Murgia.

Ralph served in the U.S. Army, taught at Pottstown High School for one year before commencing an illustrious 34-year teaching career at Pottsgrove High School that also included duties as athletic director. After Pottsgrove, he continued to teach as an adjunct professor at Alvernia College for 2 years.

Ralph also served as West Pottsgrove Township commissioner for 20 years and was honored in 2014 when the Ralph F. Murgia Recreational Park was dedicated to him. Ralph loved his church, St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother, and served as altar server, lector, eucharist minister and church sacristan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geraldine H. (Zielinski); three daughters and a son: Maria Brault, wife of Jeff, Carol Dillon, wife of Todd, Roxanne, and Ralph,

husband of Cheryl (Bush); three grandchildren: Jeffery Brault, Michael Brault, husband of Melissa (Miller), and Anthony James "A.J." Murgia.

Ralph was predeceased by sisters: Petrina Kulp (Ruben), Frances Bomberger (Ray), and Anna. He is survived by brother, Louis Murgia (wife Rosella); and sister, Josephine Bomberger (Paul).

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church, 127 E. Howard St., Stowe, PA 19464, with his nephew, Rev. Ray P. Bomberger, officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown, PA 19464.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018,

from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, 726 E.

High St., Pottstown, PA 19464.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ralph's memory to the , 399 Market St., #102, Philadelphia, PA 19106, or to St. Gabriel's Church.
