Richard H. Dunkelberger, 83, of Oley, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in Tower Health-Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Jeannine A.

(Bennett) Dunkelberger for 56 years.

Born in Hamburg, he was a son of the late Harold and Edna Dunkelberger.

He was a graduate of the former Perry High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a tractor trailer driver for 40-plus years. He first worked for Helms Express, and last drove for Carpenter Technology prior to retiring in 2013. He earned the safety award for the "Million Mile Club."

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and took part in 2 missionary trips with the church to Spain and Honduras. He was also the lead singer with the group, "The Calvary Heirs" which performed from 1964 until the late 1970s. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir and performed at many wedding ceremonies. He was also the bus driver known as "Mr. D," transporting the "Calvary Teens" on numerous trips for many years up and down the east coast. Richard was an active participant in "PTA Shows," Shoemakersville, singing and performing comedy routines, his favorite song being "Elvira." He enjoyed woodworking and also recently became involved in the Berks Encore Adult Coloring Classes.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his

children, Richard A. Dunkelberger, and his wife, Kimberly A., of Louisville, Kentucky, and Kimberly S., wife of Kevin Reichard, of Alsace Township. He is also survived by a

sister, Doris, widow of Maurice Roberts, of Orwigsburg. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brandon C. Reichard, Derrik T. Reichard, Joshua A. Dunkelberger and Travis K. Reichard.

Services will be held in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reading, PA on Monday, August 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will

follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends and family may view on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and also on

Monday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
