Richard Harry Stanley, 86, of Shillington, died June 1, 2013 at Berks Heim after a brief stay.

He was born in Christiana (Lancaster County), PA, on November 2, 1926, the son of Harry J. Stanley and Erna (White) Stanley, both deceased, and spent most of his life in Shillington.

Upon graduation from Shillington High School in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aerial photographer and was a World War II veteran. After the war, he joined the family well-drilling business, which he operated until his retirement.

He is survived by sons Richard J. Stanley of Los Angeles and Robert E. Stanley of Marina, CA; sisters Gene (Stanley) Mengel of Ephrata and Mary Ann (Stanley) Moyer of Lincoln Park; and former wife of 14 years, Susie (Hylton) Stanley of Reading.

He was an avid trap shooter and member of many local gun clubs. His regular exercise of several antique vehicles was a familiar sight to Shillington residents.

He requested cremation. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Shillington, will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in memory of Richard H. Stanley be sent to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 24 Washington St., Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA, 02481;
