She was the wife of the late John W. Maurer, who died Feb. 6, 2011.
Born in West Lawn, she was a daughter of the late Walter L. and Laura (Steffe) Potteiger.
She was a longtime member of Alsace Lutheran Church, Reading.
Ruth was a graduate of Wilson Senior High School.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and loved being with her family and friends.
She was an avid, lifelong Phillies fan and loved her pets and chocolate.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Maurer, husband of Annette, Rochester, NY; and William D. Maurer, husband of Rae, Bergen, NY; a daughter, Marjorie A., wife of Robert Clemons, San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren: Stephanie Maurer-Morris, James Maurer, William Maurer Jr., Jeffrey Maurer, Ronald Maurer, Kristen (Clemons) Flangos, Heather Clemons and Bryan Clemons; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul P. Potteiger; and two sisters, June B. Maurer and Elizabeth J. Potteiger.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19th, at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville, with her pastor, the Rev. Richard A. Nelson, officiating. A viewing will be held 10-11:00 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to a charity of your choice.

Almost 40 years ago, I worked at a bank and the Maurers were customers every week. They were very sweet and pleasant people. I enjoyed talking to them and looked forward to our chats. May they rest in peace.
