Walter was a 1952 graduate of Reading High School and attended Wyomissing
Polytechnic Institute. He was drafted by the
Army and served as a private from 1957 to 1959, spending the majority of his time in
Europe. Upon his honorable discharge,
Walter continued his education at Villanova University, graduating in 1964 with a degree in Civil
Engineering. During his time at Villanova, Walter was a Dean's list student and also inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society as recognition for his academic excellence.
Engineering was Walter's passion, and after college he gained the needed work experience, skills, and knowledge to pass the state exam and receive his PA Professional
Engineering license in 1969.
Throughout his career, Walter held various management and engineering positions. During his employment with Bethlehem Steel Corporation from 1964 to 1978, he worked on many large infrastructure projects including pipelines, buildings and bridges. Later, as an Assistant Plant Manager for Air Products & Chemicals from 1978 to 1984, he
oversaw engineering work on nuclear and cryogenic
products fabrication.
In 2000, he started his own business, Professional
Engineering Services and went on to obtain additional
engineering licenses in six states. Walter worked primarily on structural design and building certification, but also
enjoyed solving the variety of other engineering problems his customers presented him.
To share his passion for engineering, Walter founded and moderated the Berks Catholic Engineering Club in 2012. Through this club, Walter was able to share his insights and advice to students considering a career in engineering.
Walter was a lifelong member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Church in Reading, where he regularly served as lector.

To the Family of Walter Jurasinski: I was traveling with my family and returned to pick up the unread local papers and learned of Walter's death. I am very sad on hearing this news. A short time back we crossed paths while grocery shopping as I remember but my memory of Walter goes back to his Villanova days and my commute with him from Reading to the University. In addition, my mother and aunt had reminded me of our family relationship with the Jurasinski's so we probably had a status as cousins also. I regret not being home - I surely would have attended the obsequies. I pray for your comfort in what I am sure are wonderful memories. Walt was a fine man, sincere, friendly and genuine.....please accept my prayer for his peaceful rest in the merciful embrace of Our Risen Lord.
