Thomas J. Ninfo, 69, of Reading, passed away Monday, April 29th, while in the company of family members, at his residence.

Thomas was born in Reading, PA, on October 4, 1943, a son of the late Vincencio (Papa) and Sebastian Ninfo.

He was the husband and high school sweetheart of Darlene (Kasher) Ninfo, who survives him.

A graduate of Reading High School class of 1964, Thomas played football and baseball. Thomas was awarded the Harry I. Schad trophy for football.

Thomas served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the Campaign Medal, Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts.

Thomas enjoyed sports and horse racing. He later worked as a professional driver at Reading Metro Taxi for 35 years, retiring in 1998.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, daughter, Candice M. Ninfo of Reading; daughter, Lisa M. Ninfo of Reading; son, Gregory T. Ninfo, husband of Donna Ninfo, of Reading; and son, Christopher J. Ninfo of Reading. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Salvatore, Kayleigh and Christian. He was predeceased by sisters, Virginia Poduski and Carmella Ninfo.

At the family's request there will be no visitation. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the graveside services at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Mt. Penn, PA, on Thursday, May 2 at 2 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the John P. Feeney Funeral Home in Reading's Centre Park Historic District, 625 N. 4th St. at Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601.
