Verna Jean (Hoffer) Rentschler passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.
She was the wife of the late Wayne R. Rentschler Sr. Born in Hebron on July 26, 1933, Verna was the daughter of the late Harvey and Esther Hoffer.
She was a graduate of the South Lebanon High School, class of 1951. She was a former Bell Telephone operator and retired from Verl's Salads.
She was a member of St. John's U.C.C., Fredericksburg, where she had been a former member of the Women's Fellowship, a Sunday school teacher, served on the Consistory Board for two years, and sang in the choir. Her hobbies included puzzles, hook rugs, reading and rummage sales.
She is survived by daughters Faydeen, wife of Levi Gerhart, of Jonestown; Denise, wife of Richard Voshell, of Fredericksburg; Cynda, wife of John Kless, of Fredericksburg, and Sandra, wife of Joseph Drupp, of Lebanon; sons Wayne Rentschler and Steven Hetrick, both of Lebanon; sister, Faye Phillips of Lebanon; and twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Tice and her brother Richard Hoffer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. from the St. John's United Church of Christ, Fredericksburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
