George was also a faithful Volunteer of the Community Patrol now known as VIPS Volunteers In Policing Services. George gave many hours of help to the Clearlake Police Dept in setting up the evidence room shelves and he will be sorely missed, we all are used to him driving around town on his way to the post office in his little white and red personal vehicle. Thank You George for all your years of service to Our Country and Our Community.

George Thompson has been a tutor for the Lake County Library Adult Literacy Program since 1995. He started out helping me in my Yuba College GED class. The math books were too expensive for our students, so George bought a copy machine and would xerox sections of the books to bring to class. He did this at his own expense. George never "tooted his own horn" as the saying goes. I would often find out about his good deeds after the fact. In the twenty years he worked for the library literacy program, he tutored over eighty students often helping people obtain a GED. He had a regular class at Redbud library once a week where he did individual and small group tutoring in math. There is so much more I could say. I can't imagine the library literacy program without George. He was cherished and will be sorely missed.
