Don Burks Don Burks passed peacefully away Monday, October 22, at the age of 66, with his two sons by his side. Don was born June 20, 1947, in El Paso, Texas, to Buddy and Mildred Burks. He was raised and went to schools in Carlsbad, New Mexico. During that time, he worked construction for Burks Electric. He moved on to work for Hilton Hotels as a stationary engineer. He also spent many years working at Ruhkala Monument Company. In 1970, he married Royce Ann Ruhkala Burks and they had two sons, Matthew and Brandon. They moved to Rocklin, California in 1985. He loved coaching his boys in soccer, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping in the Sierras and at the coast. He was a true outdoorsman who also loved to read and always took time to watch his boys play sports. After 30 years of marriage, Don and Royce Ann divorced and he moved to the Clear Lake area to pursue a 14 year career as a surgical technician at Sutter Lakeside Hospital. During that time he met his girlfriend, Vicki Roberts. Don eventually retired due to health issues and spent much of his time with Vicki and their two dogs, Sassy and Lacy, whom he loved very much. Don Burks is survived by his girlfriend, Vicki Roberts; Vicki's son, Matt; brother, Ron; sons, Matt (Casey) of Rocklin, and Brandon (Ruby) of Truckee; grandchildren, Zach (Allison), Nate and Autumn; his great-grandson, Wyatt; many family and friends; and his dog, Lacy.
