Don Williamson Obituary

Don Edward Williamson, entered life January 23, 1959 and our beloved Don was so sadly taken away from us on October 10, 2009. Don has been ill for the past year and a half with an enlarged heart and COPD.
Don stepped to the beat of a different drum. He was not your average guy. His passion was Music. He was a drummer, sang, played the guitar and was learning the keyboard. He was his happiest when playing music. He really enjoyed working with different people and different bands all that began at age 18 when he bought his first professional drum set.
He was the only son of Tahl and Diane Williamson. He is survived by both parents, his mothers life partner Mary Glass, his grandmother Frances Craddock, his daughter Samantha Williamson Cardenas (Omar) and his only grandchild Don Omar, his sister Lori Roberge (Marc) her children Michael Williamson, Shane and Shanel Blevins. Sister Tammy Kjera, and her children Tracy Hombuckle, Rachel and Derek Moll, twins Corine and Kristine Kjera and Margaret Mary Kjera, and uncle to David DeValle. Don had so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that there is not enough space to include all by name. His old friends from his days in Sunnyvale: His old and new friends in Lake County and his friends in the Band are all going to be remembered by his immediate family. Don's wife Mary (Conklin) Williamson predeceased him and they have now reunited in Heaven along with those that past before him.
Don had three very special people in his life other than his family: Johnny Hubbard who grew up with him in Sunnyvale and remained his best friend throughout Don's life: Denise Smith who has always been there for him for the past 34 years and had a very special place in Don's heart. They had a special bond between them. She recently moved here to be closer to him as he was having a difficult time; more recently Don found Debbie Sanchez of Los Angeles who he has known since 2002. He last spoke to her Saturday morning (10/10/09) telling her he would hop on his Harley and be down to get her in the spring as he would then be free. He was so blessed to have these three friends.
Don lived in Lake County these past 27 years. Though all have passed on Marguerite Boice Flagg of Lakeport and Don Flagg of Lower Lake were his grandparents. It goes back to the early days of Lake County starting with his, great, great, great grandfather W. Prather, his great, great, grandfather "Doc" Prather and great grandparents Marguerite and William Bolce.
Ms. Suzette Fenton, her children Rachelle, Raymond and Ryan Fenton lived at Don's home these past 10 years. Don truly loved these children and tried to be there for them.
Viewing will be on October 20, 2009 at Jones Mortuary, Lakeport during the hours 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Burial will be at the Lower Lake Cemetery on October 21, 2009 at 1:00 pm.
A reception, after his funeral, will be held at the Lions Club on Sylar Lane, Kelseyville, CA.
Anyone wishing to make a donation should direct it to the music department at Kelseyville High School.

Donny was my best friend. I am still in shock and disbelief of his passing. I knew Donny since grade school and I can't EVER remember Donny doing anybody wrong! He had a heart as big as this whole wide world and would literally give you the shirt off of his back if you asked. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like Donny around. I am blessed to have my memories of Donny and our escapades together. I just wish we could've played music together one last time. I loved him like a brother.Rock on Donny! Love to all family and friends, Johnny Hubbard

Oh Uncle Donny, I will forever miss you. I met Uncle Donny when i was nothin but 14 years old. I met him through my Aunt Denise. I was a troubled teenager, and that never mattered to him. He always told me I would make something of myself in this world. I was able to see my Uncle Donny for the last time on August 8, 2009. He was able to meet my kids, and my husband. He shook my husbands hand and said "IT TAKES A STRONG MAN TO MARRY MY HARD HEADED NEICE, THANK YOU" and they laughed. We spent that night playing music and talking. That was a great night. Before everyone went to bed he gave me my last and final hug and said to me "I TOLD YOU, YOU WOULD MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF. DIDNT I TELL YOU? I AM SO PROUD OF YOU" Thank you Uncle Donny.
I am gald that my children were able to meet him an know him for just that one night. I love you Uncle Donny....I love you. You will never ever know how much you touched my life.

Oh my favorite Uncle. I met my Uncle Donny when I was nothin but 14 years old. I met him through my Aunt Denise. Uncle Donny was the greatest uncle Could have ever asked for. I was a troubled teenager and he never ever made me feel bad about who i was. He always told me he believed in me and that I would go place in this world. I saw my Uncle for the last time about 2 months ago, and he was so proud of me and how well i am doing....he even told me so. He was able to meet my children and he shook my husbands hand and told him "IT TAKES A STRONG MAN TO MARRY MY HARD HEADED NEICE, THANK YOU" yes he said that to my husband. We all sat there that night played music and talked, that was a great night. Just before everyone went to sleep he gave me my last and final hug. That was the greatest hug I have ever been given. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Time. Just a four letter word that we lose track of. I met Donny just a few years ago when he started playing drums with several friends who were having fun with music, and eventually formed the band "Blind Spot." We recognized Donny's skill as a drummer, and his love for music. Over the past few years we enjoyed playing a lot of music together, and his contribution to the Blind Spot sound will be missed a lot. Donny was a unique character who added color to the band.
On another note, Donny always talked about a goal of getting a Harley. When he recently got his Sportster he was the happiest guy you could imagine. He and I only took our Harleys on a few short rides together, but he clearly enjoyed every minute on his bike!
Donny will be missed. Seems like we really did lose track of time.
