Obituary Condolences

Steven Gilbert Thomas Steven Gilbert Thomas of Cottonwood, CA, passed away on December 20 at the age of 70 after suffering for many years with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Hayward, CA, on March 9, 1943, to the late Roy "Jack" and Mavis Thomas. Steve earned his GED while serving in the U.S. Army. He married his wife, Donna on January 23, 1972, and they made their home in Finley, CA, for most of their nearly 42 year marriage. They also lived briefly in Winnemucca, NV, and later moved to Cottonwood, CA, after Steve retired from driving truck. Steve was a loving and devoted husband to Donna and an attentive father to their daughters, Bernice and Lisa. Steve worked hard to provide for and take care of his family. He also made time to have fun with them, including taking a two week vacation in the family motor home every July. Steve is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Bernice Golling of Cottonwood, CA, and Lisa Thomas-Willey and her husband Paul Willey of Westbrook, ME; and three grand-children, Rachel and Logan Golling and Ingrid Willey. He is also survived by his sisters, Jeanne Eastwood of Everett, WA, and Barbara Brunson of Austin, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. At Steve's request, there will be no immediate services. Cremation will be handled by Blair's Direct Cremation and Burial Services in Redding, CA. His wife and daughters will bury his ashes in a private service at the Veteran's Cemetery in Ono, CA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spend the money doing something fun and making great memories with your loved ones while you can.
