Christopher Scott Fortado Doherty was born Jan. 9, 1960, and passed suddenly on Jan. 19, 2006.

Son of beloved mother, Gloria Doherty of Sonoma, beloved father, George Fortado of Lakeport, and adoptive father, Michael Doherty of Napa; father of Dylan Doherty Von Lahr of Santa Rosa; beloved brother of George Doherty of Lakeport; Randy Doherty of Provo, Utah and Laird Doherty of Santa Rosa; and uncle of Michael Doherty of Provo, Utah.

Chris graduated from St. Mary's High School in Berkeley, where he lived for many years. He was employed there at Muglianis, where he learned his trade as a meat cutter, and then opened his own meat market in Oakland in partnership with the Mugliani family. He later moved to Sonoma, where he worked at the Woodlands Market in Marin as a meat cutter.

He moved to Lakeport to be closer to his father, George Fortado, and worked for Fortado Construction Co. Chris' life revolved around sports ‹ a true sports jock ‹ he loved racing at Infineon Raceway, NASCAR, motorcycle racing, football, baseball, bass fishing and the Raiders. He helped out at Cal Berkeley games when he lived in the East Bay ‹ walking the lines.

Friends are invited to a memorial service at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27 at St. Leo's Parish, 601 West Agua Caliente Road, Sonoma. A reception following the service will be held at St. Leo's.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Lytton Springs Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center in Healdsburg, where Chris' family and friends have benefited from their outstanding program, are requested.
