Benjamin, Constance M. - Wallingford (The Record-Journal)  
WALLINGFORD - Constance M. Benjamin, 82, of Wallingford, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014. Born in Springfield, Mass., March 28, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Julian Brown and Sarah Burroughs. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rockwood T. Benjamin; daughter, Nancy Dunlap; son, Kevin Benjamin, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Carol Chambers Benjamin; grandchildren, Kevin Benjamin, Jr., Blair Dunlap, and Chase Benjamin. She is also survived by sisters, Josephine Haynes, June Walker, Audrey Jefferson-Jones; and brother, Thomas Brown, Sr. She was predeceased by sisters, Olive Brace, Emily Brace; brothers, Jeffery, Johnny, and Charles Brace. A celebration of Constance's life will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home, 52 Hancock St., Springfield, Mass. on Monday, Dec. 22, viewing to begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay St., Springfield, MA. We will then gather for a repast at Salvatore's 1333 Boston Road, Springfield, MA 01119. Berry, Elsa Victoria - Prospect (Southington Citizen)  
PROSPECT, Pa.-Elsa Victoria Berry, 87, Prospect, Pa., formerly of Southington, Conn., went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Sunny View Nursing Home in Butler, Pa. Born Oct. 13, 1927, in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of the late Simon and Viva (Eagle) Carlbert. Also preceded in death by sisters, Vera Hilma Casey and Betty Warner; brothers, Henry and David Carlbert. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Richard Berry; sons, Rick Berry and Ronald and wife, Laura (Heming) Berry; grandsons, Nathaniel and Joshua Berry, all of Prospect; brother, Carl Carlbert, Southington; and many nieces and nephews. Elsa was a captain with the Salvation Army and spent her life ministering to others both in Connecticut and when they moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to their grandchildren. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 18, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2251 Prospect Road, Prospect, Pa. with Pastor Ben Oesterling officiating. Internment was followed at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army, Butler Corps, 313 W. Cappetta, Mary R. - North Haven (North Haven Citizen)  
NORTH HAVEN - Mary R. Bersano Cappetta, 95, of One MacDonough Place, Middletown, a resident of Fitch Street, North Haven for 55 years, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. She was the wife of the late Anthony P. "Cappy" Cappetta. Mary was born in New Haven on Oct. 6, 1919, daughter of the late Luigi and Angela Merletti Bersano. She had worked in the cafeteria at both Montowese and Green Acres Elementary Schools in North Haven and was a former member of the St. Therese Church Ladies Guild. She was the mother of Vincent (MaryLou) Cappetta, of Meriden, Marlene (George) Francis, of Swazaland, Africa, John (Cynthia) Cappetta, of Middletown and Karen Ehrens, of Ashland, Mass; grandmother of Vincent (Heather) Cappetta, Christopher (Pascale) Francis, Kate (Kevin) McManmon, Daniel (Helen) Cappetta, Sarah (Tim) Dillon, Timothy and Naomi Ehrens; great-grandmother of Mikayla and Megan Cappetta, and Morgan Cappetta; sister of Peter (Audrey) Bersano of Arlington, Va., and the late Hugo Bersano and Olga Spargo. Her funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home 36 Washington Ave. Monday, Dec. 22. A Mass of Christian burial was followed in St. Therese Church. Interment was followed at All Saints Cemetery. Carroll, Lucille Hord - Las Vegas (The Record-Journal)  
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Lucille Hord Carroll, 93, of Las Vegas, Nev. formerly of Wallingford, Conn. went peacefully on Heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. Born and raised in North Carolina, the daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah (Wright) Hord. She was the wife of the late James W. Carroll, and moved their family to Wallingford in 1962. Lucille worked at Eyelet (division of International Silver Company) until her retirement of in 1983 when she and James moved to Las Vegas, Nev. Always an active woman, Lucille started a second career of 12 years at Circus Circus Casino where she enjoyed meeting folks from around the world. Lucille loved her family and was thankful to live to see five generations and traveled the country to see them. Her travels also included graduations and weddings. Lucille celebrated her 90th birthday party with many family and friends, and at a service at the Elmdale Baptist Church in Clyde, Texas. Lucille was great cook, her Southern fried chicken, coleslaw and biscuits were always a big hit. Her life stories were entertaining and inspirational and requested often by her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and in addition to vegetables she raised beautiful Iris. She tended a large Christmas cactus for over 40 years that produced a waterfall of color every year. She shared its beauty by giving clipping to family and friends. Lucille was the kind of friend a friend would like to have, making friends easily and keeping them close to her heart. She enjoyed the camaraderie with longtime friends Mable McKnight, Liz Winters and Beverly Peer. Lucille is survived by five children, Glenda Kay LeVasseur, of Las Vegas, Nev., Janet Rebecca and William Day, Jr., of Meriden, James Jr., and Connie Carroll, of Clyde, Texas, Patti and Dennis McLain, of The Villages, Fla., Roger Carroll, of Rosemount, Minn; 14 grandchildren, Jacqueline (Johnny) Harrah, Stephanie Day, James (Terry) Worcester, Jennifer (George) Casivant, Jason (Kim) Worcester, Ryan (Beth) McLain, Michael (Dawn) LeVasseur, Matthew (Krista) LeVasseur, Mark LeVasseur, Carolyn (Evan) Zupnik, Cynthia LeVasseur, Mitchell Carroll, Nathaniel Carroll and Sasha Carroll; 18 great-grandchildren, Amanda (Shane) Egan, Rebecca Bard, Jessica Harrah, Brandon Harrah, Megan Harrah, Rhiannon Harrah, Conner Harrah, Ella Worcester, Gregory Casivant, Ahlena LeVasseur, Erin LeVasseur, John McLain, Jason Worcester, Adrianna Trotter, Alex LeVasseur, Tyler LeVasseur, Charles McLain and Dominic Trotter; and two great-great-granddaughters, Elinor Egan and Molly Egan. Lucille is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Shelton, Nutrice Ledford; two sisters-in-laws, Pauline Fletcher and Gail Ware, of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. Lucille's funeral was held at the Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nev. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, and burial was in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery next to her husband. Pallbearers were Michael, Matthew, Mark LeVasseur, Brandon, Johnny Harrah and Shane Egan; honorary pallbearers were William Day Jr., and Dennis McLain. Lucille was a kind, warm, sincere lady with a wonderful heart and will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warriors Project was requested.

Cone, Evelyn - East Haddam (The Record-Journal)  
EAST HADDAM - Evelyn Beebe Cone, 98, of East Haddam, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was born in East Haddam on May 4, 1916, the daughter of Frank S. and Florence (Beebe) Cone and raised on the family farm. Evelyn taught physical education in the Meriden school system from 1938 to 1968. She also taught for a year at a resident school for troubled children in Kansas City, Miss. Evelyn was a lifelong member of The First Church of Christ, Congregational in East Haddam and a member of the East Haddam Garden Club. She enjoyed riding horses, always having Ford convertibles including a purple Mustang which she purchased at age 80. Evelyn was proud to still have her first car, a 1931 Ford Roadster. She loved being at the family farm with the animals. She never enjoyed cooking. Evelyn is survived by her nieces and nephews, Nancy M. Lee and her husband, Don, of Deep River, Deborah H. Ouellette, and her husband, Ken, of East Haddam, Robert S. Cone Jr., of East Haddam, Theodore F. Cone and his wife, Pam, of Lebanon, Dwight L. Cone and his wife, Valerie, of Tavares, Fla., Timothy W. Cone, of East Haddam; and his companion, Lenore Consiglio; her 23 great-nieces and nephews; and her beloved kitty, Phoebe Beebe. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, R. Sherwood Cone; her sister, Viola C. Moore; and her niece, Amelia M. Charest. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, from 10 to11: a.m. at The First Church of Christ, Congregational, 499 Town St. (Rte. 151) in East Haddam. Evelyn's funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Millington Green Cemetery in East Haddam. Dziema, Konstanty I. - Edom (The Record-Journal)  
EDOM, Texas - Konstanty "Konny" Isadore Dziema passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 4, 1919, in Montague, Mass., he was the son of the late Konstanty and Anna (Senk) Dziema. Mr. Dziema was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946. He married Anna Mary Zack on Dec. 2, 1944, and following the war, they moved to South Meriden, Conn., where they raised six children and were active members of Holy Angels Church. He was a devoted Catholic. After a career as a USDA meat inspector, he retired to Port St. Lucie, Fla. in 1988. Konny and Ann celebrated 50 years together before she died in 1995. He later relocated to Anderson, S.C., and then came to live with his son, Joseph, in Texas. He is survived by his children, Ron Dziema, of Clinton; Kevin Dziema, Constance Pierce, and John Dziema; all of South Carolina; and Joseph Dziema of Texas. He also survived by his grandchildren, Robert, Kenneth, Christopher, Joe, Julie, Jennifer, and Michel Dziema; Tammi Davis, Heather Schutzler, Amber Baker, Melissa Nocera, Jessica Pepper, Rachel Edens, and Jacque Binford; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial, to be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, 565 Main St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. MERIDEN - Randy Ellison, Sr., 54, of Meriden, husband of Doreen (Boles) Ellison, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Florence, S.C., he was the son of the late John and Leila (Curry) Ellison, Sr. Along with his wife, Randy was survived by his son, Randy Ellison, Jr.; daughter, Jasmine Ellison; three brothers, John Ellison, Jr., (Davona), James Ellison (Linda) and Ronnie Ellison (Cynthia); three sisters, Lizzie L. Ellison, Leila Drain (Charlie) and Jettie Ellison-Brackett; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, David L. Ellison; two sisters, Juanita Ellison and Loretha Ellison; and grandson, Randy Ellison, III. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 26, at 11 a.m. at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West St., Middletown. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. Faulkner, Lawrence R. - Branford (North Haven Citizen)  
BRANFORD - Lawrence R. Faulkner, 72, of Branford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford. Born in New Haven on July 9, 1942, son of the late Frank A. and Mary Juliet Maillet Faulkner; he served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam era; was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 443 and had worked as a truck and cab driver for many years. He was the father of Lisa and Julianne Faulkner; brother of Donna (Dave Apuzzo) Puccino and Lynette (Joel) Princevalli; nephew of Ann Bourgeois; uncle of Frank, John (Lexy) Puccino, Michael and Shaena Princevalli; great -uncle of Joshua Puccino and Megan (Brian) Henderson; great-great uncle of Michael, Gabriel and Benjamin Henderson; "sister"/cousin of Renee (Ed) Flynn. He was also survived by many-many cousins. Family and friends were invited to meet at the office of All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and followed the procession to the graveside for a funeral service with full military honors.
