Ann was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Dwyer) Lefevre, and was born Nov. 17, 1930, in Water-bury. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Smith. Ann graduated from Wilby High School in 1948, and went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career as a bookkeeper. She was a dedicated homemaker and loving mother to her seven children. In addition to rearing her own children, she was affectionately known as "Mom" to countless neighborhood children. She was also an active volunteer and served as vice-president for the Wallingford Pop Warner Football, and was a very familiar face for many years on the 50 yard line. For years Ann served as organizer of the "Block Island Bash," an annual sojourn that brought dozens to the shores of the island for recreation and activities. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, gardening and preparing meals for huge crowds. Her Cook Hill Road home was a weekend destination for an endless parade of relatives and friends over several decades. Ann's large family grew even larger at the Highlands Health Care Center in Che-shire, where she resided in her declining years. Her warm, friendly and feisty personality soon became a domi-nant fixture among the Highlands' residents and staff, with whom she developed many close, personal relation-ships. Her family extends its sincere thanks to the Highlands residents and staff for the care and friendship they provided, and for the overwhelming support and personal stories they have shared leading up to and following her passing.
