MERIDEN - Arnold "Archie" Leland White Sr., 72, died after a brief illness on Friday, May 16, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Born in Houlton, Maine, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret White. Arnold attended Meriden schools and resided in Meriden for most of his life. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for many years. Mr. White was a peacetime veteran, having served with the U.S. Army
overseas in Germany.
Arnold is survived by a daughter, Lisa Anne Russell and her husband, Edward, of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Arnold Leland White Jr., of San Diego, Calif.; a special friend, Linda LePage; four grandchildren, Natalie Russell, Arnold Leland White III, Kelly Christine White, and Amy Louise White; a sister, Jackeline and Jimmy Gianotti of Wallingford; and a lifelong friend, Walter Evilia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Arnold was predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas Russell; two sisters, Charlene Papallo and Mary Lou Petracelli; and four brothers, Donald, Frank, Terrance, and Douglas White.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Friday May 23, at 10 a.m. in the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, Conn. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday May 22 from 4 to 7 p.m.
