MERIDEN- Daisy Mae Shanklin, 83, of Sylvan Ave. Meriden, entered eternal rest Tuesday, Feb.18, 2014.
She was born to the late Frank and Lilly Bacote on June 12, 1930, in Darlington, S.C. Ms. Shanklin loved to go bowling and listen to music. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting.
She leaves to cherish her memory; son, Kevin, of Meriden; daughter, Thelma Shanklin, of Meriden; son-in-law, Harry Parrish, of Meriden; brother, Douglas Brunson, of South Carolina; sisters, Marie Alford, of South Carolina, Inetha Kennedy, of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Latonya, Jermaine, Corin Parrish, of Meriden and Sonya Gains, of Texas; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Jaylene, and Malachi Parrish, Kendra Vanlenter, Shanice Green; and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Sterling Shanklin Sr.; son, Sterling Jr.; daughter, Carolyn Parrish; sisters, Maebell Simon, Dorothy Miller; brothers, Willie, Frank and Leon Bacote; great-granddaughter, Angelina Parish.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, 84 Franklin St., Meriden.
