Gregory W. Prus

SOUTHINGTON- Gregory W. Prus, 66, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Sloane Kettering Hospital in New York. For 43 years, he was the loving husband of Joyce (Taylor) Prus.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of Mary (Zaniewski) Prus and the late Walter Prus. He retired in 2004 from General Electric Plainville, as manager of computer operations America's after 38 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a lifetime member of ELFIN, and past president of Southington Historical Society. A kind and patient man, Greg loved spending time with his two grandsons, Ryan and Steven, who were the light of his life. He loved vacationing at "The Beach House" with family, fishing and boating. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiques and he and his wife, Joyce, shared many happy times exploring and searching for the next "find". Greg had a passion for gardening which is reflected in the many beautiful gardens at both of his homes.

Besides his wife and mother, he leaves his daughter, Tamara Dlugos and her husband, Paul, of Southington; a brother, Larry Prus and his wife, Linda, of Southington; a sister, Sandy Chute and her husband, Al, of Plantsville; and his two grandsons, Ryan and Steven.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be private with military honors.
