Helen E. Deeb Dutko

EAST HAVEN- Helen E. Deeb Dutko, 66, was a resident of East Haven. On Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, she was received by the Lord. Surrounded by many loved ones she was brave to the end. Her Journey here is complete.

She was born in Westerly, R.I., March 24, 1947, a daughter of the late Toffie and Isabelle Barr Deeb. Helen loved to play bridge, enjoyed the beach, was an avid Red Sox Fan and enjoyed reading. Her greatest joy was the time spent with family and friends. She especially enjoyed all the years she was able to share and be a part of the life of her precious grandson John Henry. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Dutko.

She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and John Nevin, of Wallingford; her cherished grandson, John Henry Nevin; her sister, Barbara Mayo, of Louisiana; her niece and nephews, Christopher Mayo and his wife, Carrie, Lindsey Huntley and her husband, Brad, and Dr. James Mayo and his wife Kendall; her great-nieces, Victoria Huntley and Leighton Mayo; her great-nephews, Jesse Stephens, Ross Stephens and J.C. Stephens; and her four legged companion, Finnegan.

Helen's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and Yale New Haven Hospital for the exceptional care and comfort they provided.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Monday, Feb. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place St., Yalesville. Interment will be Wednesday at 12 p.m. in First Hopkinton Cemetery in Ashaway, R.I. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Brigham and Women's Hospital, Development Office, 116 Huntington Ave., 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02116.
