James Magnolia

James Magnolia, of Meriden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22. 2014 at his home.

James, also known as Bud or Jim, was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Jim was born in and was a lifelong resident of Meriden. Jim served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In his spare time he enjoyed tennis, walking, and being with family and friends. Before retirement he was an avid softball player and played on multiple teams in Meriden and Southington.

Jim loved and was very proud of his children, Robert Magnolia, of Agawam, Mass., and Roxanne Lagana and her husband, Jeffrey. He is also survived by his sisters, Rose Barefoot and Paula Massena; a brother, Bob Magnolia; his two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jordan Magnolia; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, May 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial with military honors will take place in the Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown at a later date.
